Hi, I inoculated 4 1/4 pint BRF jars on feb 1st, I have one jar that is about 85% covered the outside of the jar, one at 50% , but the other two are only showing little colonization, just little circles on the corners I injected, is this normal to take this slow?

you provide absolutely no information for us to suggest anything.
I'd say chances. Can happen. If the first one is fully colonized and the rest isn't doesn't matter just wait. If it takes to long you can put the fully colonized jar in the fridge.

It depends on environmental factors, genetics, possible bacterial contaminants that the eye cannot see...and pictures would help as well. How about some more info on your technique?

Here is my time line for BRF HALF PINT cakes:
Spore germination: 7-14 days Colonization of substrate: 2-4 weeks Consolidating cakes: 1 week Time it takes to start producing first flush: 1 week Being patient and enjoying the fruits of your labor: Priceless
Considering you are using 1/4 pints things will move along a lot quicker but your yields will be decreased due to the smaller jar size.
Seeing as your jars are at least %50 colonized after 17 days, and spore germination usually takes 7-14 days, it looks like things are moving along fast for some jars, and the others are doing normal as well.
Growing mushrooms takes time and patience.

I have had jars at 100% while others had barely a speck and took what seemed like forever myself. Not sure the reason but I have never had all jars finish up at the same time or even within a week of each other. So I figure that is just how they roll.
Patience, I have plenty of it and thankfully so.

Thanks, just got a little nervous , first time grower, and for details, I'm not seeing any discoloration at all, pure white , the temp is about 70f where the jars are located, I just started giving them 4 hours of fluorescent light a day
