Well its good to hear that you are feeling better and thing are back to normal!! I hope this is the only reaction you have to gourmet and medicinal. You have eaten Shitake and Oyster mushrooms with good results? Both those mushrooms taste good and have lost of medicinal property's.

Base: I dried them in front of a 1500W space heater set on low for 24 hours(Yard sale time is coming and I got my eye out for a dehydrator) and then finished them off with silica crystal cat litter.
Pepper: I have eaten a few lbs of Shiitake, and small amounts of pink oysters thus far with nothing bad happening. Reishi just took me by surprise.

What exactly is the face palm for?
I assume its about the space heater and silica crystal for desiccant. I placed the fruits on a platform above the PURE silica crystals in a container and they dried out fine. I have used the same method for drying shiitake and oysters until I get a dehydrator with no ill effects.
Thanks for adding nothing to the thread brother.

Sounds like other then the sickness you are having a great time!
Stuff happens, could have been many different things but I am not ruling out food poisoning. Not to be crude but on a side note 3 days after I had ingested the reishi I started pissing blood for about 24 hours. This freaked me out a bit but after some research medications that thin the blood are known for causing small amounts of blood in the urine, goes to show that even with a 10 minute steep I still got SOME of the medicinal compounds out of the reishi.
When will you be back home my friend?
Be safe and take care!

Morelman said: I concur that it sounds like the symptoms of food poisoning. Like RR said, you didn't boil it long enough to extract the medicinals and bacterial toxins are heat stable. You drying method lends credibility to that hypothesis. Reishi is denser than shiitake and oysters so it takes longer to dry, meaning a longer time for bacteria to proliferate.
I tried to dry a Ganoderma tsugae conk the same way years ago before I bought a dehydrator. It smelled "ripe" after 24 hours.
Other than that I have no advice to give. It seems you've made up your mind, so I see no point in going further. What you do is your business.
Good luck whatever you do.
Your last two posts were a lot more helpful and constructive then the first I must say that. It sounds like you know a thing or two about food poisoning, and while I do not agree with how you went about posting I do take your advice into consideration.
Fact of the matter is I made a poor choice and clearly might have given myself a case of food poisoning. Instead of doing what 80% of the people do on this forums after making a stupid mistake(Deleting the posts and information out of embarrassment) I choose to leave it up and answer any questions that were asked in the pursuit of spreading knowledge.
This opens me up to a lot of criticism at times as I share my stupid mistakes, failed grows and ideas with anyone who takes the time of day to read them. It was not my first stupid decision and it surly will not be my last.
All things considered chances are I experienced a case of food poisoning, due to improper preparation and possibly drying. The shredded reishi was cracker dry after 24 hours of drying with a space heater and another 30-36 hours in a desiccant chamber. It also had no distinct smell to it, sour, foul or otherwise. This obviously does not rule out food poisoning at all, but I would not have eaten rotten or sickly smelling fruits.
I was offended by your first face palm post and found it added nothing at all of value to my thread. It might have been a different story if you shared your opinions and advice at that time.
Either way there is no hard feelings on this end.

Last Update:
Last picture update folks, hope you all enjoyed following along. I plan to let these grow out for another week at which point I will be harvesting and drying the full antlers in the sun for ornamental purposes.

Now as for the difference between substrates:
-Pasteurized Fuel Pellets Growth was faster then the sup. blocks, also noticed smaller thinner antlers with minimal branching.
-Supplemented Fuel Pellets -Slower growth, thicker antlers and many of the antlers branched out into two antlers past the original offshoot.

I think I had read that the fruitbodies will grow until there is no more white area. Am I remembering correctly?
