I have been misting and fanning 1-2 times a day. I want to grow antlers to avoid the spore load reishi is know for so I am trying not to fan and mist all that much. I have heard RR say shiitake is a very C02 tolerant mushroom so I do not think it should be an issue.

The two pasteurized bags are made up with straight fuel pellets.
The two that are supplemented are a sawdust BRF mix.

Flame Clown: Glad I could inspire you to want to give reishi a try! I have 4 blocks kicking around these days for the same reasons as you have stated, I am very interested in the health benefits of this beautiful mushroom.
Bio: I assume you want to know how I prepare my blocks. I was taught this method by Meph, who was taught it by Lipa. Meph called it Lipas pasteurization tek.
What I do is take roughly 8 cups of hardwood fuel pellets and place them in a filter patch bag. I then boil 9 cups of water. Once boiled I carefully pour the boiling water into the filter patch bag.
I wait a few minutes for the pellets to hydrate, then I close the top of the bag with a piece of heavy twine and shake the pellets around to break them apart, and mix the moisture content around so it is even.
I then wrap the bags in towels and leave them overnight to cool before inoculating.
Every time you play with fuel pellets I have learned the composition can be very different. You may have to tweak the method a little if your mix comes out to wet or to dry.
