How is texting and driving any different than eating and driving?

When I am eating, I generally don't have to concentrate on hitting little buttons while correcting my phones T9 corrections to make sure what I am typing makes sense. When I am eating, I just have to focus enough to make sure my food goes in my mouth and not my eye, which is pretty easy considering I have many years of daily practice putting food in my mouth...

So you are saying one should get a ticket for eating and driving? I agree.

Well, you don't have to look at your phone while talking on it, so I don't think it's that much different from eating there.
I personally thinking texting and driving is horrible, but if you're at a stop light, I don't think it's that bad. I've also been known to text short words while driving, like "ok" and "brt" (be right there), which is arguably bad, but I don't have to look at my phone to do it..I'd never try to hold a text conversation while driving; that's just terrible.
I eat and drive too, unless it's something that's hard to eat, but if it's french fries, I don't see what the big deal is.

Eating while driving should be fucking illegal too.

i dont use my phone at all when driving.
the only things i do while driving is smoke cigarettes/joints/blunts and push the button to skip songs on my ipod.
occasionally i push it to the limit and smoke a bowl. but that requires knee driving so i try to keep that to a minimum.

If you make eating while driving illegal, then why not make smoking a cig, drinking a pop, rolling a joint, shaving, brushing your teeth, putting on lipstick, combing your hair, and changing the radio station while driving illegal as well?
oh wait, rolling a joint is already illegal!

Yeah, making eating and driving illegal would be terrible for road trips and then they'd have to make drinking (non alcoholic beverages) and driving illegal, and I don't have air conditioning in my car and I get thirsty Maybe make eating any non finger food illegal while driving?

Well, I actually agree with some of those things.
Putting eyeliner on while driving 80 on the freeway is borderline retarded.
If you don't have the capability to place food into your mouth without losing your concentration on (and without taking your eyes off) the road... You're not gonna make it very far in this world anyway. So...

Eating while driving costs thousands of people their lives. Its a ridiculous thing to do, and is illegal in many countries and jurisdictions.
It really speaks to our pathetic, food obsessed culture that we cant even wait to pull over before shoving some fat and salt down our hole.

Pretty much anything that makes you look away from the road for more than a split second or takes two hands is a no. Other than that, it's pretty much okay. I can brush my hair while driving because it takes one hand and I don't have to look. Can't do eyeliner cause it takes two hands and I have to look (unless I was a pro at eyeliner)

Whattt? You shitting me? I wonder what the laws are in NJ on that? I got a ticket for "using an electronic handheld device while driving." I used to have to drive to client's houses to fix their fish tanks and I was looking at the GPS on my phone at a freaking red light. I wonder if I have any points on my license.
Cop was standing in the middle of traffic, he bangs on my work van and tells me to pull over. I pull over and get a $120 cellphone ticket and he gives me 2 more tickets because the drivers side back break light was out and the municipality of the business wasn't on the side of the van. That cop was a real dick. If you're ever on Rt-17 in East Rutherford, watch out for asshole cops.

I agree. Although we already have laws such as careless/wreckless driving, which could be used to fine those who think it's ok to put eyeliner on while driving 80. Making new laws to enforce the same crime is pretty stupid IMO.

Jesus Christ. You shouldn't even have a license. A car is an instrument of death. Clearly you are clueless as to the level of seriousness it is to be behind the wheel of a car.
