Bucket sgfc
    #13982777 - 02/18/11 01:28 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

So my cakes were ready to fruit and i was short of materials so i made a sgfc out of a bucket. 5 inchs of damp perlite. A plast pag that fits perfectly at the top and can act as a lung. I have 3 cakes and they fit perfectly with just enough room for the fruits. Does this have any chance of success? I also dunked and rolled cakes.

its not a sgfc unless holes are drilled on all six sides.

I dont have a drill used a hammer and thick nail theres a hole every inch because the holes arent 1/4inch they are about an 1/8th inch so i added more holes but an inch apart to get enough air. The holes are all in the bottom and all over the entire sides of bucket. If you dont consider it a sgf then think of it as a bucket based off the sgfc idea.

1/4 inch holes give x4 the airflow of 1/8 inch so you need x4 the holes

Yea ive been reading for like 2 months and knocked up my first brf jars about 4 weeks ago. The bucket must b  doin something right the one near where most the holes are looks ready to start pinning. Def going to increase fae and get a rubbermaid tub and build another chamber with more holes. I used the bucket because it was handy.. Im sure il be ok as long as fae is good and misting when needed but the bucket with 3 cakes holds pretty good humidity.
