What if...
    #13980518 - 02/17/11 06:42 PM (13 years, 16 days ago)

...2011 years ago there was a wave of awakened states occuring within the people, who agreed upon a common moniker upon whom they would depict a literal definitive concept of the idea of "being" christ consciousness? An attempt to leave clues for those who came after and would inevitably be in a dark age? It would simply be an enlightened people gathered together to create "group art projects" (the bible) upon which they would all agree to tell their children was "the way it was" and to shun and throw aside all other alternative explanations for the strange mystical aspects of our reality?

Seems more realistic than the only other explanation for why someone would bother with that shit and presenting it the way it's presented. (That would be that it actually went down the way the words literally describe.)

What if's usually remain what if's.
And speculation can make a man go mad. I'd rather just stare at what society has thrown at me and make my own intuitive inclinations on the matter.

and, strictly hypothetically, if that were truly the case, we really couldn't do anything about now, could we? actually, i would find utter amusement in the greatest hoax mankind has ever conceived just because it's so fucking ironic. kinda fucked up, but i'm the type to watch things burn when they deserve to.

Man, it was a rhetorical question.

Just had an odd thought pop into my head, and thought I'd put it out there. Wasn't like... sitting on this, working on it for months. 30 second material, tops.

Funny, JC's OP is actually in the book VALIS by PK Dick.

Hmm. Makes me want to read Valis. Philip K. Dick is pretty awesome, but I never read that one.

What if... the literature that OP is talking about is the Gnostic Gospels that the Church tried to suppress?

Edit: Mr. Middle beat me to it.

VALIS is supposedly his most autobiographical work.  It's about the deity-entity that he thought he was communicating with.

But yeah....I think some made it all up to harvest our life force.

Is Jesus evil?

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

μετανοια is like a stereogram, one relaxes focus and becomes conceptually cross-eyed combining two subjective perspectives into a single objective one.
