Goodbye, Gandalf the Green. (I'm sorry old friend, but you've been replaced)

I bought this fine piece of glass no more then three weeks ago

And it has already met it's demise. I put it on the counter for a few seconds to run down and grab my herb, which I now know was a bad idea to begin with. Came back up, and it was shattered. My aunt was in the kitchen making a drink and she accidentaally knocked it off onto the floor.
It cracked a little less than halfway. It sucked, but I don't really care. She said she'd pay me back for it, so I might run down to the shop tomorrow and see if I can spot another one around the same size and shape.
The good thing is, I figure I can grind the uneven glass on the broken pipe, smooth it somehow and still use it as a small pipe. Has anyone else ever done this? I don't really have any idea of the best way to go about it, and I don't really want to make it worse.
any ideas?

I thought about grinding down the sharp part of my gandalf when it broke.... until i was scraping out the bowl park and that shattered.
Never will I buy another gandalf.

You can use diamond studded sand paper. It is used to polish tile. You can find it at any hardware store. I used to make Granite counter tops and I used this type of sand paper on glass all the time. With fine grain, you can even polish the glass.

i had a pipe break one time and i used a mapp gas torch to seal the end shut then heat it up while covering the bowl and GENTLY blow or suck thru the carb.. if its hot enough it will pop.. but if its too thin it will crack as it cools so have the oven ready as hot as it goes and reduce the heat over 30 min or so.. and before you start make sure the pipe is CLEAN! i loved that pipe man.. at least it wasnt like 2+yr old.. those always hurt the most...

It is better to have smoked and shattered, then never to have smoked at all.

Went into the shop this morning, and found another gandalf. It's the exact same pipe I had except this one is blue. Same length and everything.
It has a few differences, though. The bowl is bigger than my older one, but it also doesn't go straight down like my green one. It goes a tiny bit back, and where the bowl meets the stem is a bit thicker.
It still smokes the exact same, and I actually prefer blue over green. But Gandalf the Blue doesn't have the same ring to it as Gandalf the Green

And They threw in some stickers and some screens because I told them the story of how it broke

What he said ^
The blue one looks more magical.
Another negative to these pipes is how hard they are to clean

Half and half. I use my bong and Gandalf and equal amount it seems.
depends on if I want to get really high or a casual smoke.

I remember you posting that you had gotten it. Oh, it only seems like a few weeks ago.
That sucks man. How clean was the break? Like did it just shatter into a million piece or did it just break cleanly into 2 halfs? I've had a mini bubbler break clean, I used gorilla glue on it, and it was prefect.
Gorilla glue is non-toxic, heat resistant, and water proof.

There are pictures of the break that he posted. Looks like repairable to me if he made it less sharp.

It wasn't very clean at all. It broke into 4 pieces. The bowl and a little less then half the stem, two small parts of the stem, and the long end piece. Check the OP, I'm pretty sure you can see the pieces I'm talking about.
I took some pics of the break spots. (far left piece is the bowl and the cracked stem, two small pieces, and the far right is the end piece.

I was also thinking about grinding down the jagged edge of the bowl piece and make a smaller one. I took another pic of the bowl piece.

I need to rename the blue one though. Gandalf the Blue sounds horrible. Ideas?

i like the wizardry theme. and i feel there is something subtly seductive and feminine in the blue. so how about Morgan le Fay, AKA Morgana?

Gandalf was just one of the wizards sent to Middle Earth to fight against Sauron. Two of them were blue.
