Yes, it will mess up RF broadcasts in communications, the background radiation will go up a tic and the Northern lights will be more active, but the end of the world? Probably not.

Science states they could also knock out electrical grids if strong enough. That could cause a break down of society and anarchy but we won't know until they happen.
