Odd testicle pain... Should I be worried?

Pardon the awkward subject, I just want your guys' opinion on this (and possibly even advice, experience, thoughts, etc).
So I was taking a shower today when I noticed some inflammation on my testicle. On closer inspection, it appears less like a cyst (which I've had before as a kid), but more like ringworm in some ways. It's red, inflamed, and a little sore whenever I scratch around that area. It's not too big or anything really, and I just contributed it to either my scratching my balls too often/too hard in recent days, or maybe just some fungi infection that will go away within a week or 2.
Still, I'm a little creeped out by it, and although it doesn't seem like a huge deal right now, I just want to know if this has happened to anybody else here. Gah, anxiety...

I'm just a bit spooked out, that's all, and I wanted to see what people here thought - you know, maybe I'll read something that will relieve me.

Is it under, or on, your skin? Is it intermittent, or persistent.

Thank you for the reply.
It's under the skin, sort of like a rash. The pain seems to be intermittent, which is why I thought that perhaps this was just inflammation caused by me itchin' my nads too much - you know how it is, your paranoid, so you keep poking it to see if it's in pain.
If I leave it alone, it's almost unnoticeable. Almost, but not too entirely..
Thank you again!

I don't really see how a rash is 'under your skin' but I digress... let's say, LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE for two days, if it's still red, definitely go to a doctor.

Yeah - the 'rash under the skin' is throwing me off to. Is it at the top of your nuts, or at the bottom? Front/back?
Come on man, information is key.

My apologies, I'm just searching for ways to describe it. It's just red, inflamed a bit, resembles a bit like ringworm, or some other sort of bacteria, I suppose. And yeah, that is what I plan on doing. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

Thank you for all your help. It's hard to tell if it's under the skin, or above it really. It's just inflamed skin, red, sore, on the bottom of my right testicle. I guess you could say it's on the outside, because although it's on the skin, it's protruding outward. It's not exactly painful, but it does produce some pain when I play around with it (it being that ringworm sort of area).

I'm thinking its just pissed off at you. Don't play with it for a day. Wear boxers so that its suspended and not rubbing against fabric. Report back and tell us if it still hurts, itches, is red, etc.
But in reality, if you're worried, go to a doc.

Thanks, I plan on doing just that! I just worry; you know how it is - you have a toothache, so you always play with the tooth. It's bothersome, but I guess anxiety just has its way of eating away at people.
Thank you for your help, I'm going to give you a +5 shroom rating

As far as over-under is concerned... generally, when people say under the skin, they mean in the organs or muscular systems beneath the skin... it's kind of easy to tell, because it's "raised" in a way that seems to be "behind" the skin rather than IN it... "over" the skin is kind of a mis-nomer, as the alternative to it being under the skin is that it's 'in' the skin.
Rashes are generally "in the skin" while a hernia (for instance) is a raised lump under the skin, which the skin can move around over.
I would assume that, with ball skin being as loose as it is (if you're in a warm room, heh) that you're dealing with something on or in the skin rather than under it..?

Sorry to confuse everybody with how I'm describing this. But, here's an idea of what it looks like - from the perspective of ringworm on a boy's chin: http://www.riversideonline.com/source/images/image_popup/sn7_ringworm.jpg
It's sort of like that, but not scabby. Also, mine protrudes outward a bit more, but it looks a bit like that. However, mine isn't in a ring shape.. It's more of just like a line, I suppose?

Prolly just aggrivated it somehow. I wouldn't even bother going to the doc until its been 48hr and its still there.
Try to leave it alone. Thanks for the +5. I've had epididymitis twice so i'm familiar with nut pain and the anxiety that comes along with it.
