Death is the true reality.

If life is such a transient thing, occupying only a tiny portion of time, then the non-existence of pre-life and the oblivion that comes after death is the true nature of our existence. Does anyone agree ? If not why ?

I believe the true nature of our existence would be while we exist. But what do you define existence as?
If it's while we are conscious or aware of our existence, then it's obviously while we are alive. If it's the energy which comes and goes, then it's gonna be while that energy is there - be it forever or not

I disagree entirely. You are still caught in the duality between life and death.

I can't be certain that this oblivion exists.
Also can you define 'true'?
Do you mean that death takes up the majority of existence?
If so given the definition you use to interpret the world and life, then I would have to say yes.
However because I cannot yet be certain that oblivion exists, how can I be certain that death makes up a majority of what we know existence to be.

Why do you evoke the idea of a "true" reality? The matter, forces, energy, etc. of this universe exists whether or not you are alive or dead.

I have experienced this this in particularly powerful mushroom trips. The dark nothing that is reality closing in on my thoughts. I see this a possibility

That doesn't make any sense to me. Are you saying that when a human dies it is "singled out" but is still alive or something?
Wouldn't it make more sense to say that a dead human is joining the ocean because a dead human has no ego and is thus "connected" to everything?
Any way I look at that it doesn't make sense.

It's just a really bad metaphor. I hate when people try to sound wise and poetic using figurative language and then fail at it.

bam! this is the only REALITY you can prove what so ever. why not leave it at that. Everything else is just a stream of perceptions your brain puts together in whatever fashion it wants. the only thing that is for certain is that physical reality exists as it exists, that is all we know. how can you say there is a 'true' reality?
of all the realities you have perceived, which one is true? the one without suffering? the one with suffering? where does this circle end??
