Is it okay to expose colonizing jars to light?

My pink buffalo jars are at about 40% colonized, I check about everynight just to make sure they aren't developing contemplations, is it safe to expose them to light everyday for about a minute, I know your supposed to have them in a dark place

colonizing in darkness is an old outdated myth...jars actually benefit from colonizing on a light schedule just like fruiting..

Can't speak for buffalo but cubes sure don't care. You can leave cubes in jars under 24 hour a day light, they just won't pin.

Guessing it's because of no free air exchange.

Yes.  The low GE makes for a high CO2 env.
