Layering casing material and substrate or mixing it???

I am using a 50/50 compost and coir. Hello fellow shroomery members. I was wondering how I should go about my casing material. I have been told many different things. 1) mix it in all together. Put everything in the monotub and mix the sub and the casing material all together with ur hands then add about 1/4 of coir. 2) layer the casing material and sub. I'm not to sure how to go about this. How much sub should I put and how much casing material. And how many layers? 3) just add a about 1/4 as much casing material as sub to the top of the sub and that's all
Thanks alot you great shroomery members!

Mix it all together & put a pseudo-casing layer on the top of 1/8"-1/4" of your substrate...
I've heard of a lot of problems w/ layering causing early pinning & not allowing the substrate to colonize 100% before pinning...
Make sure when you mix, yes hands are fine (I use rubber dishwashing gloves on mine), that you get down in every corner of your tub...

Just saw you posed on there....13's a good guy, he won't steer ya wrong brotha...GL...& don't forget the 1/8"-1/4" level bulk sub on top so no grains are exposed. Also make sure to smooth it out...not pat it down...
