I'd go with german kahuna statements here and keep the name from the area it originates. Instead of creating super duper fantasy names.

YOU KNOW WHAT!... I actually agree with you. Strain names should stay somewhat scientific.

I think I know what strain this is. It looks to be Golden Teacher. None the less they are fat, even for Golden Teacher's.

hihi, thanks everyone for the nice comments !
Quote:
pps. have you thought of elevating the plastic trays to increase the surface of the perlite?
godisanastronaut, I have a second smaller kit running as well, and that's what I did for the second flush, but it didn't went that good, and I might even have ruined the cake (still looks dry & shrinked even after 24h duking...), so with this one I'm simply going to stick to the instructions & let it in its container.
Quote:
The easiest way for you to clone, would be just to sterilize a knife and a jar of honey/karo water, drop in a piece of the inside tissue, in very very sterile air. It was pretty easy my first time, no issue, and great even next flush.
myl3sss, I'm definitely going to give a try to cloning ! Only problem with be the "very very sterile" air. I live in a small & extremely dusty house, plus have 5 cats roaming around, so that won't be easy. I can try to build a rudimentary glove-box, provided I can find the right container.
Quote:
What size is this tray?
Luger, the container holding the mycelium is about 12cm x 18cm
Quote:
You might have a new popular strain here man. You should start thinking of names.
yessir, that would be great ! But let's not sell the bear skin before shooting it, I'll wait for the cloning to succeed before thinking about a name eheh...
I'll also do some spore prints for sure. That's a pretty lame question, but, will the resulting fruits (from mycelium grown from spores) have this big size feature, or the only way to garantee it is cloning ?
Here's how they look this morning !

Have a great week end everyone ! as for me that will be cloning-studies eheh...

Oooops, I didn't notice there was a second page eheh...

Virus, I definitely agree with that. If there's something worth here giving some name, origins will be part of it, have no doubt about it. I am from MJ world and I hate when someone shows up with some new landrace, but gives only the name of country as origin. THere are a few psilocybe strains with fancy names, but nothing about origins and I find that quite frustrating.

Yessir, actually the shop I bought the kit from carries strains with the following names : Colombian, Equatorian, Golden Teacher, Thai, McKennaii, Mexican. On the container is a mark, could look like a "M" (seller told me "M" is for McKennaii, but container was in a box written "Mck"), but could look like a "E" as well, so that would be for Equatorian I suppose.
Isn't Golden Teacher an Equatorian strain ?

You can not see the difference between GT and E at this stadium. Wait until they are mature.

Hurrah ! I've managed to get a pack food-grade agar from a vietnamese restaurant.
Is this stuff suitable for cloning ?

Looks like Golden Teacher to me, what do you people think ?

By the way, the very fat pin has stopped growing and looks like a fat abort. I guess i should choose a mature fruit for cloning, rather than an abort, right ?

Do Ec. & GT always have dark purplish brown spores ? These fruits seems to produce BLACK spores, so would be something else, no ?

Aawwww, I don't have a pressure cooker ! Is there anyway to prepare agar substrate for cloning, without the use of a pressure cooker ?

Greetings everyone !
Harvest was done this morning, havent weight yet the whole, but looks good ! Edit : about 150gr fresh, not that huge a harvest, but not that bad either !

Here a pic of the fattest pin there was, but it turned abort. I guess it's no use to try cloning it...

Instead I decided to make spore prints, and while doing so I found out about something which I sure wouldn't have guessed. While separating the caps from their stem, some show a very strong, almost instantaneous blue-ing (almost blakc actually!), while others changed color rather slowly, to a lighter hue.

These two stems are from a same cluster.
Obviously it means that different fruits from a same mycelium will have different psilocybin content, is that right ? IS it something happening with all strains ?
Also, the caps have released a seemingly large amount of spore in the casing, perlite is grey, and there are also lots of spores mixed with water on the walls of casing. IS that bad , Should I change the perlite and clean the container ? Lots of them on mycelium as well, is it bad ?

Good day everyone !
Irie !

They look like 'PES Hawai'', i saw those fatties also in my growths sometimes.
About the grey perlite from the spores, mine pes hawais spreaded the spores so much that the perlite was pure black.
(yes i know i harvest them to late, but this was more an experiment of something i tried)

Indeed, I have seen pics of PES Hawaii, which looked like mine. But browsing threads and spore suppliers, I have seen many "strains" which look like mine, agh...
Supposedly so-called "McKennaii", I guess I'll know more when I bio-assay them as McKs are said to be quite potent & visual, wait and see...

even though the fattest one aborted, you got a rather nice flush out of, and some beautiful caps for printing..
