Any old school EverQuest fans around here?

I've been an avid MMRPG gamer for 12 years now, but none of the new games I played ever really brought me back to the amazing world that was old school EverQuest. I'm sure part of that was the fact that I was a lot younger back then, but about a year ago I came across a free EverQuest mod server called Shards of Dalaya. This game has done a better job than anything else I have played of recreating that truly epic online world. Its a truly free game. All the staff/developers work on it purely because of their love for the game and they get paid nothing. The server is maintained entirely through voluntary donations that don't benefit the donator in any significant way.
If you were a fan of old school EverQuest and have found newer games to be lacking I really suggest you check out http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/
The graphics are still 10 years old, but the content is amazing, and given the nature of the game, the playerbase tends to be much cooler than in WoW or any popular new game, as most people are like mid-20s guys who got hooked on EQ at an early age.
The raid game is truly amazing for something created entirely by volunteers. I'm in the top raid guild on the server and we are still have tons of new content that has never been defeated before. Raids are 18 man and every player truly matters.
I think I'm starting to ramble, but you all should check out this amazing game! Its kept me sober for over a year now!

ALSO! If any members do decide to start playing /friend solosolki and /tell solosolki <FUN GUY FTW!> (or any sort of shroomery reference) and I can hook you up with starting advise, maybe some armor/weapons/platinum pieces (if you like being twinked, sometimes its fun to just start nekkid!)

Closest thing you will find to the feeling of oldschool EverQuest! Its really an amazing game with an awesome community tons of unique content (it is NOT just an EQ copy. They just use the graphics/engine, all content is unique to this game)

So if I wanted to play this I would still need a copy of EQ the first one, or 2? Then use the SoD Patcher?
I remember playing the first one but I was pretty much solo playing on someone elses account. Think I got my hobbit critter up to lvl 13 then quit after giving all my shit away to some new player. It was still pretty fun.
EDIT: Found my answer in an old thread here. I might just check it out. Dammit, I still have Amnesia, Gothic 4, and Dead Space 2 to play....

Sorry for the delay (Ive been reforming the <Fair Weather Friends> guild, tonight was our first major raid and we got a new loot that nobody in the world has ever seen before! Devs don't count as people.)
This is the link anyone wanting to try the game should use: http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/intro_starting.htm
If you just want to check it out and learn more try: http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/
They can't really condone torrenting on their website, but its easy enough to torrent a copy of EQ Titanium and go from there with the SoD patcher.
This is really an amazing game I could afford to play any MMO out there, but I think this one is superior to anything else on the market. With that said, its not for everyone and its mostly fans of old school EQ that end up really enjoying and getting into this.
