Petri Dish Storage? Ziplock, No Parafilm...

Howdy, did some searching to no avail. Has anyone stored their petri dishes in ziplock bags with no parafilm for convenience?
I'm trying it with a few. I have small square ziplock bags that fit petris perfectly. I take them in and out in front of the flow hood. Sure makes handling the dishes much simpler, no wrapping and unwrapping everytime you mess with a dish.
I like parafilm but this just seems easier if it works without contam risk, gas exchange issues, etc...
Would be great to hear if someone has been doing this method with the test of time.

gas exchange issues? Parafilm allows some gas exchange I believe.
I'm all about the parafilm, I can only imagine ziplocks to be a larger pain. But what I do for longterm storage is to put them into a ziplock bag in a addition to parafilm

i use cling wrap and zip-loc bags. then again i don't want my petri's to fully colonize most of the time. So i don't worry about gas exchange. I refuse to pay 30 bucks for parafilm. Thats more money than everything else I spend on the hobby put together. In terms on materials at a time.

parafilm is for keeping out contams and sealing the plate with still letting slight GE
you can use cling wrap witch was mentioned, cut the tube into 2.5 inch sections and you get like 5 rolls for 3 bucks

Ziploc bag is fine, there's enough air in there for the dish to colonize.

Here's a pic of what I'm using - no parafilm. Was just wondering if anyone has done it this way for any period of time without contam issues.
I'm telling you, if it works, it's easier dealing with dishes...no unwrapping and rewrapping. With the ziplock only, you just pull it out and have instant access. If the petri dish is only taken out in front of the flow hood and handled with clean gloved hands, I'm thinking this is overall a very clean process. With parafilm, the dishes need to be wiped with alcohol before opening, taking care not to wipe of the labeling, etc...that's assuming they got moved around to unclean areas while growing, which they often do.
I thought of the ziplock only thing because I was working with 20 dishes and rather than wrapping them all up again, it was easier to just slide them in these appropriately sized ziplocks. I typically wrap with parafilm first and then bag them, but with these new bags that fit the dishes so well, I thought why the hell even parafilm them.
Here's the pic:

and also i want to see this in a tek form
if you could make a tek that includes some wiping alcohol , then i think it would be the most noob friendly intro to agar possible

Covered dish inside a sealed zipper bag? Yeah, that's how I did it when I used petris. Worked fine.

Right on, thanks Doc-T!...I'm excited about the simplicity of this and hope it works out well.
Just out of curiousity, what do you use now, instead of petris?

PF jars. All different lids, but the best is an undrilled plastic lid.

Well, there ya go...nice and simple. Only drawback I see for me using the jars is space in my little myco-fridge. But, the jars definitely have appeal

Yeah, they take a lot of room. And they are heavy. But they are durable and the screw tops are nice.
