My friend bill is having difficulties creating an incubator. Temps are hangin around 75 and would like to keep them consistantly higher (around 83 or so). Suggestions? Ideas?
Bill has mentioned that he is hesitant to use an electic pad due to drying/high temp issues, not to mention fire hazard. Thanx

put a blanket or some old clothes on top of the jars to keep it nice and warm.

Water at 86 deg. F will not necessarily feel very warm to the touch. Please, put your incubator together short of the lid, place a thermometer inside of the empty bin (the one your jars will go in), close the incubator (put the lid on), wait for 2 to 3 hours and check the temperature (as read on your thermometer).

the fully submersable fish tank heaters are the best way to go...you must not be useing one or must be dumb as dirt to say they are "gay" you can get a 200 watt fully submersable from wal-mart for 24 bucks add 2 rubbermades that nest togeter your talking a great incubator for 30 bucks...cant beat that

You could try this set up....this is what my grandma is going to use....read about it on a tek and thought it was a nice idea.
CLICK TO ENLARGE:
Just make sure to remove the plexi-glass addition or cover it up because the incubation chamber should receive NO light!!!

you should go fully submersable....and remember to add a cup of bleach per gallon of h2o used or elce its going to be a breeding ground for contams.
