No apparently he was a big wig or some shit cause he was in 20 years and just retired, not sure what he was but he said most don't see combat. I have a friend from HS in the air force who hates it because he's bored all the time but then again, some people I know love it.
Goes for every branch, know a marine who hates it and is counting down the days, know a few more that are signing another contract after theirs is up

About 5% of Air Force jobs will actually witness combat.
Probably 85% get deployed to a war zone in their first 4 years.Quote:

what did he do? standard grunt work?
That's all anybody does when deployed.

It's meiosis. Mitosis is normal cell division. Meiosis is the division of the sex cells to form an embryo
nah meiosis forms gametes
mitosis turns the single cell into an embryo.
While I agree with you that mitosis could be a right answer too, the fact that they specified embryo means it is probably cleavage. I think this is the first time I have used my bio major knowledge outside of the class or lab haha.
proof: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleavage_%28embryo%29
cleavage in embryology is the proceeding cell divisions after the egg is fertilized. so, no, it does not CREATE an embryo, only divides it.
hmm? So you are calling the fertilized egg an embryo? I guess we are getting into semantics, but I have always thought the zygote becomes an embryo after it starts dividing.
Plus from your point of view, if the fertilized egg is the embryo, then none of the above are what create it (although some are involved in the process)

hahaha okay mr. semantics. lemme rephrase
Cleavage in embryology is the proceeding cell divisions after the zygote has become an embryo. so, no, it does not CREATE an embryo, only divides it.

You did infantry? I want to go either infantry or land something aviation and fly anything, I'd fly whatever.
My friend is usmc infantry and he said that's the one I should avoid because all the other ones will give you skills outside of the military but I'll have a degree, he doesn't so that kind of changes that for me.

ok so i dug out my old bio textbook. heres what i think will resolve the situation.
Quote:
Following fertilization, the second major event in animal development is the rapid division of the zygote into a larger number of smaller and smaller cells. This period of division, called cleavage, is not accompanied by an increase in the overall size of the embryo.
SO, the period of division of the zygote is called cleavage (forming the embryo), and the question states "a series of cell divisions" which implies a period during which the cell is dividing. the process by which the zygote divides to become the embryo is mitosis, but the correct answer is cleavage.

from my experiences with taking the ASVAB, the practice tests are always harder. don't get too worried about it.
got an 88 on one of the practice tests but a 99 on the real thing.
shit is a joke

that question was specifically worded to fool you, much like many SAT/ACT test questions. in the real ASVAB, i doubt you'd encounter a question like that.
