Bacteria???
    #13967879 - 02/15/11 02:19 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I've had this cake in the FC for a while now... It's on it's 3rd flush and has a couple larger pins that have really dark caps... One of them looks like it has some bacteria contam on its cap... It has a spot where it looks like it has a dimple... It's the middle sized one of the 3 in the picture... I also have a few more jars colonizing and noticed a lil growth that looks strange just wanted to make sure everything was ok... Thanks for your advice guys...

Bacteria?

Jar cobweb or myc?

Basically a quarter of a cake from a tall 1/2 pint jar that has had more shrooms grow from it in 2 flushes than basically all the shrooms from 3 cakes combined... Idk what has gotten into this thing...

Looks fine. You can wash them off and smell them when you harvest.

Will they be safe to consume? The cap looks darker in the middle one and has the dimple thats why I'm trying to be safe and not end up sorry...

That does not look like cobweb mold. Cobweb is much finer and smaller wisps than what I see in the photos.

?? Any help?? Could the shrooms in the first pic be aborts? Their caps are darker than the other pins and they have seemed to stop growing and they are starting to look kinda fuzzy white on the caps???

What was the question?

... and why don't you fan those poor mushrooms?

question is can one still eat a shroom from a cake that has had bacteria contam?

And i do fan them its the 3rd flush and produced one normal looking shroom that has already fallen off the cake itself and then there are a few shrooms that look like the ones in the pic...

They look like either bacteria or aborts... Haven't shown growth in a day or two...

Aborted due to mold growth due to stifling conditions.
Fan the hell out of that, and drill all the holes like you were supposed to in the first place.

I do have all the holes... Its just a huge 118 quart tub in a closet... I fan almost once an hour when I'm home...

Could you show me where the mold growth is? Cuz i don't see any on the cake or even in the pic...

You don't have a 1/4" hole every two inches all the way around all six sides of that FC.
I can tell from the mushroom.
