concerned about growing for the first time

so i really want to start growing. but i am a little concerned. i have looked over at least 100 different sites and forums to compare different grow techniques, and have been doing my research. i really want to try it out and see if it's for me. but, i have read a lot about getting cakes getting contaminated because of mold. during the fruiting process, i would plan on having my cakes in a large container in my closet, because i think it would be the best/easiest place for me to keep the temperature up and area sterile, but we found mold in our house in the last 6 months. it was in the ceiling and we ripped everything out, but im not completely convinced that its all gone, or more could have grown. so my question is could my cakes get contaminated druing the incubating or fruiting process because of the mold in my house? and what kinds of things could i start doing now and continue to do while growing, to keep my closet completely sterile and safe. and also, what other things could i do to the closet to improve it as a growing area?

no.
and closets suck for growing areas.
not enough fresh air.
and fruiting chambers should NOT be sterile.
you need to read more. :3

Sometimes closets are the only areas that people have to keep it hidden. I also bet many people have had successful grows in a closet.

Closets can work fine you just have to fan a lot and keep the door open with a small fan blowing air out of the closet in order to increase the air flow into the small closet...

Mold spores are everywhere dude, that said I live in a moldy house and I've had no jars contaminate yet. As long as your pretty thorough with your sterile technique you should be fine, the colonization stage is most vulnerable time for pf cakes, once your 100% colonized your cakes are pretty resistant to contaminants.
If your getting alot of contaminants in your jars and your sure of your sterile technique it's most likely dirty spores. And your closet will be fine if you can make sure they can get enough fresh air and light during the fruiting stage

I have mold in my house and have had only 1 jars out of like 35 get contaminated, but that was because of sloppy inoculation... Like the others said, the fruiting chamber isn't a sterile environment. The more fresh air the better for the FC. But not like fans and blowing wind.....
Go to you youtube and type in lets grow mushrooms and watch all 5 parts of RR's video for the PF tek...or go to the mushrooomsvideos website and watch them there

The fan is only necessary because he said he had to grow in his closet... Yea if your FC is in an open room that gets plenty of FAE itself then the fan is not necessary; but in a closet the fan a couple times a day for 5 mins in order to push stale air out of the entire closet and new air in is needed... Thus allowing for FAE to be better over all in the closet environment for the FC...

Who grows in their parents home...??? Grow up and support yourself... If your going to break the law like an adult why not act like an adult and not push your criminal acts onto your parents...

Off topic...In my younger days I lived with my mother....I had trained my dog to find pot. I started a little crop in my closet.....I wasn't home and my dog decided to play "lets find the weed" with my mom....that little bastard lead her right to it....
