Local protester chains himself to wrong building
By: The Associated Press

OLYMPIA — An Olympia man chained himself by the neck to the wrong building in what he said was a protest against President Bush's foreign and domestic policies.
Jody Mason spent hours Tuesday padlocked to the Washington State Grange building on Capitol Way. It appeared he meant to chain himself to a building for the U.S. Department of Energy, police said.

The Grange is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that advocates for residents in rural areas. Grange employees found Mason at around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Mason explained he'd chained himself to the building after listening to Bush's televised speech Monday night, in which the president gave Saddam Hussein and his sons 48 hours to leave Iraq or face war. Police used heavy-duty bolt cutters to free Mason, who had padlocked one end of the chain around his neck and the other to a door.

He wanted to be outside a federal building, but he didn't realize he wasn't said police spokesman Dick Machlan. And when he realized he wasn't in the right place, he had to have our officers help because he hadn't brought the key to get him out.

Mason said he had looked up the Department of Energy in the phone book. The phone book, under the Department of Energy, lists a small Bonneville Power Administration Office at the Grange building.

Mason wasn't arrested and won't face any charges. He could not be reached for comment today.

Ya gotta love the wacky protesters....

HAHA, funny thing is, without the civil liberties that we have, if it wasn't for this great nation, then he wouldn't have been able to protest at all!

Then again, if he wasn't allowed to protest, the gov't would have done him a favor by saving him from public embarassment

Chained to the wrong building...  dumb dumb dumb dumb DUMB!
