The delineation of time is a key aspect IMO

How can anyone know they can benefit from any kind of situation without already personally experiencing it? I think too many people go into drugs the first few times expecting certain things from what others tell them or what they read or whatever and either let that shape their own experience or are supremely let down. Take what you hear about shit with a grain of salt because my mind works different from your mind works different from that guys mind. Drug experiences, like life experiences, may be easily relatable to other people but at the same time they are incredibly personal. You and I probably have a different idea of what is weird, or mind-blowing, or transcendental. Yes, DMT will probably be beneficial (Edit: I don't feel comfortable saying it probably will be beneficial. It will most definitely blow your mind though), but you also probably have the no idea why it will be until you break through.
I don't know for certain that I will benefit from it. Which is why I said I think I will benefit from it, rather than I know I will benefit from it. You're right, I may end up hating it and not getting anything from it. I think it's unavoidable to hear and read other people's experiences and not let them affect us a little bit. Why else would we be posting trip reports?
I just think that from what I have read, I could benefit from it. I certainly hope that I do

This last time on 4 grams (which was this last Thursday) at one point I encountered this pretty freaky looking troll like entity with two big butcher knives in each hand. I didn't move though and it just left. I was pressed with my face into my bed and I was seeing the whole environment from 3rd person.
sounds pretty close to breaking through. Were you in the dark, or did you really see this in the environment?
@Ballerium- you should totally wait for the shroom experience till you are in a new place. I'm sure a low dose would be ok where you are if your parents are in bed or something, but not a visionary dose. That would be a bad idea.
I'm sure you'd be fine with DMT as long as your room is fairly isolated from theirs and they are asleep.

I wasn't trying to dissuade you from trying DMT, just merely trying to let you know there's pretty much no way for you to begin to comprehend what DMT is like. Ever tried to explain an acid or mushroom trip to someone who's never even drank alcohol? It's even harder to describe a DMT trip to someone who has never tried DMT.
In my experience trying to explain it really just ends up putting a damper on what the experience could have been for someone. I'd rather just say "This will blow your mind" and then let them smoke it.

Oh don't worry, you didn't dissuade me
And yeah, I do understand what you're saying. It's hard for me to describe acid, even to my boyfriend who has tried it with me. I always just think of it as "that feeling" and each time I try to describe it ends up being different than the last.

The whole experience, is unique. Every. Single. Time.
I dosed on Saturday night at beach-house birthday party and didn't have anywhere near the experience that I've had before, whereas usually visual stimulation takes the forefront of my experience, this time I was wholly amused and could not stop laughing except for those deep moments of clarity and wisdom, it's always different. But then again I was wasted most of the night. One thing is for sure though, we can agree on mutual definitions of what we consider psychedelic. In terms of perception and how we perceive those perceptions, well that's entirely different.
We can all accept some fundamentals about the way our mind operates under the influence, 40 years of LSD in our culture is proof positive of that. But what we cannot so easily describe is the spiritual aspect and how it relates to us as human beings. We desperately need a more knowledgeable source for that type of insight. Many have become aware of this and do their best to explain, I suggest you read into some visionary thinkers, (Shulgin, Watts, Leary, McKenna, Huxley, Pinchbeck.) Before and after your experience.

Aw, goodnight
I guess I'll probably end up going soon too, if everyone else is leaving.
