Look for jewelry stores that also buy gold. I found one with some like...90 year old guy in it with two poodles. He just sits there all day waiting to buy peoples' gold. He likes selling me silver though

I simply looked for area coin and bullion dealers online. Called around and found an excellent one.

He only exchanges at the bank (in a private deposit room), and is well-known by the bank employees. He offers security, flexibility, and honors spot pricing. His markup is modest and he deals only in cash. Some people use pawn shops, jewelers, or just buy by mail.

You might be surprised what you dig up just around the corner.

You're sure to find someone within driving distance that will accommodate your needs.

That's some good advice. I just tapped out my FRN flow for a while but I'll make some calls. I called two places asking them if they sold silver a while ago and they were pretty dismissive. They were jewlery stores I'm pretty sure. They quoted me a good price though. I'll call them and some other stores and see what's around.

I might need to go fondle some silver.

Word of warning-- after a charge up like this, I would anticipate a correction of some degree.

I'm not saying anyone should necessarily hold off buying right now- especially if you're not holding any metal at all.

But if you are looking to add *more*, buying on retreats is always wise-- and there will be a retreat from the price peaks that made it through today (Friday past, that is).

Just can't know when or how much. Could be a few percent down, could hit double digits.

Only the market knows. Be ready to jump when it speaks.

I hear of people getting bullion for spot and I don't know how they do it. Local shops maybe?

Ive gotten loads of silver bullion (and junk silver) off of ebay for spot or less.  I used Gixen auction sniping service and just methodically place snipe bids for spot or less on many listings.  On top of that I used eBay bucks, Bing Cashback/Mr. Rebates and credit card rebates to drive the price down 4-10%.  It was awesome when there was Bing Cashback, it gave 8% cash back on ebay purchases.  I got hundreds of dollars off of my silver from bing alone.

Alas, that promotion is over.

The combo I use now, for all ebay purchases since Im not buying silver, is eBay bucks, Mr. Rebates and credit card rebate.

on the other hand, trader dan's buy indicator has gone off again, indicating another potential run up.  check out the correlation between his buy indicator (lower blue bars, above black line = buy) and rises in price:

Do you think it could have been a correction due to the retreat during the libya uprising and oil prices?

Nothing like making a few bucks before the silver even gets to your door.

I'll have to look into those E-bay bucks.

I was expecting an correction earlier this week but it didn't happen, except for that quick 50 cent dip.

Thanks for the list-- you can't have too much perspective on these topics.

It's a sure fact that we're in pre-mania stages for PM's with silver in particular, and I hope I don't imply otherwise with my caution above.

I am going by the fact that we've blown through the resistance levels established in earlier this year.
Coupled with the fact that the broader market is starting to behave like it's about to correct, I seek only to point out that there's an increasing chance of a broad sell-off, which will impact PM stocks along with all the others. (ala 2008)

I couldn't know if it will be as bad as that was-- I personally don't think that it will hit PM's as hard as that event did, since a larger percentage of the players in these areas presumably have the education of the interceding three years to cement their confidence in the long-term power of the sector.

I would love a massive pullback, as I'd be selling my car to load up everything I could buy at a discount.

With that said, every rally leg needs a breather, and I have one silver stock I bought January 25th that's up 48% as of today.

Knowing that the PM market is still chained to the rest of the market, even though those chains are becoming ever more rusty and loose, still guides me to book profits when I see the potential for a slide following fast, easy gains.

We don't likely have a lot longer before those chains break- and seeing what JPM and their henchmen are doing right now emboldens the overall bullishness of the sector. I do think the lid is near blowing off, but I think we may get one or two nice discounts before it catches fire, and I advise those that agree to book some profits so that you can redeploy added cash to some weakened stocks before they fly up, up, up.

I'm not clear on what you mean-- though those events are surely weighing on the market, as does everything else.

Make some predictions...

How low do you all see Silver going in the next month?

How low do you all see Gold going in the next month

What do you all see the Silver price at in one year?

I haven't been watching silver enough to make any predictions. I do think it is going up though. My guess is that there will be a little pullback to 33 or so and then up up and away.

I'm thinking about switching some silver over to gold at 20:1 or right around there. I love silver, it's favorite metal, but I would love to have a more compact store of wealth.

Maybe one day silver will be more expensive than gold.

I would guess it to end the year at around $50.00. Just a random guess tho.

That's what they all say, then it goes to $45, they still have none and next they say; "when it goes down to $40 ill buy some"

Then it goes to $50...

Silver isn't going to make a full $6 pullback anytime soon.

Why not? i've been right so far for 5 years.

Do you think monetary policy is about to take a 180?

Are there any fundamental reasons why i should be wrong?

I'd be really interested to know...

Whenever a natural or man-made disaster occurs, it seems that silver drops some, but recovers quickly.

Yes. It's called volatility.
And JP Morgan.

If you've been watching the market for five years, you should know better than to act as though a 10+ % correction is impossible.

It's not just possible, but likely.

Of course the trend and future is up, but have a little perspective on broader market behavior and acknowledge that it's a safe bet, especially in a rigged-ass silver market, to expect wild swings compared to the suppressed "stability" of the past as it's breaking out of now.
