When should you spot case?
    #1396057 - 03/20/03 07:10 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

For a few days i had my casing covered with the tuppaware lid and i saw no growth. The last night I took the lids off and just covered it loosly with tin foil and i can already see growth. Should i spot case these little spots or just wait a couple more days?

I would if i were you. Continue to patch until mycelium is coming up fairly evenly throughout your casing. You can also 'spray back' the early mycelium before patching. Usually, as long as your casing layer is fairly consistent in depth, you shouldn't need to patch more than twice.

IMO, patching, or spraying back (if done correctly!), and maximum air exchange in balance with proper humidity are them most important things influencing a great flush.  But you already knew this Anno   Just letting the newer folks know...
