Hmm...

Death has actually been on my mind lately.  Death does fill me with wonder in a way, but mainly it fills me with paralyzing fear.

I think I can say without a doubt that dying is my biggest fear.  I love being alive soooooo much!!   And I cannot even fathom not being a living, breathing human being any longer.

Not being:ooo:

Part of the reason death scares me so much is because I personally don't believe there is any sort of after-life.  No soul evolution, no Heaven, no nothing.  (Please ignore incorrect use of double negative.)

I believe your organs stop functioning, and without any blood-flow from the heart, all of your cells begin to shut down and go through cell death.  Then you are slowly eaten away by all sorts of fungi, bacteria, insects, worms and other animals.  That's it!

And the thought of that scares me to death!!

(figuratively speaking of course.)  :smirk:

well... im glad im not the only one.

the only time i have ever been able to concieve the next stage of existence was on almost deadly suffocating ammounts of nitrous oxide. (some other drugs too)

half concious on the floor with my face in a small puddle of drool.
it makes me think... some how, just maybe its possible, and i just havent figured it out yet, because at some points... almost reaching death itself, it started to make sense.

drug are bad, mmmkay!

I'm only afraid of death in the sense that I'm afraid of HOW (and how EARLY) I die.. as long as its not a torturous/wildly painful death, I really am passionately curious about the end of this human experience - Don't get me wrong, though - I've got a lot of living to do  I see though, that as I get older and my ego expands (seems mandated in society), through drama, action, adventure, and all that heh I will become more attached to this human experience and may not be so willing to let go.

You must be a youngun' ! Wait until death becomes a REAL future outcome, you will be amazed at all the things you feel you need to get done and that the time is far too short. If you believe that death is evolution shouldn't you complete the chrysalis stage you are in so as to emerge a completly developed entity?
Please excuse me but from my artificialy shortened lifespan your remarks seem incredibly unappreciative of the life you have been given.Really dude if 70yrs is too long to wait to experience ETERNITY you should work on patience and enjoying to the fullest the NOW.Live Long and Prosper  :grin:WR

... 18

but i think for me (and anyone else) i would say death ir very real. no body's getting a free ticket outta this.

i think you confused soylent green's comment with mine. because i DONT think death is an evolution... i really think (shit! almost said believe) that when you die its over right then and there, and death will be the same for me whether i choose to rape and kill 100 people in my lifetime or whether i choose to be the most caring person i can. this isnt a test, to me, its an accident.

the need for something *more* is a common thing i findmyself searching for. i dont think my time here (in life) will be enough for all i want to do, because there is just so much

the temptation to want to die is just so great, and the only reason i havent is it just my be the last experience i ever have... yea but it my just be the beggining of something too

i really dont know

I am also looking forward to dying...
Not because I didn't like to live... I REALLY LOVE TO BE..
I just believe that at the end of life, time will disappear... (as time is relative)
and you are taken to eternity.. where you possibilities are endless...
welcome to your own cyberspace....maybe you'll realize then that YOU(?) are god.

On my way back from a concert many miles away the other day, I was in this great headspace (marijuana, energy rush, haha). I have a very creative mind, and we're were driving down this winding highway by the Wisconsin River. I just started thinking that this is the way I'm going to go, and I visualized the whole thing, as if I had seen it before in a dream.
I just imagined the driver losing control of the car because he was driving too fast on the curves, and he's all like "god fucking damn it! here we go!" and we turn left and go over the road, on our way down the hill to the river (which there would be no escape from; the current is much too strong, the water much too cold). I could see everyone's reaction and could taste the feeling of this horrible death.
For the most part, I can accept death, even though I would prefer not to die before I get some things done, but seeing this way as a possible death is very fucking scary. Imagine if it did happen, and I bailed out of the car door and didn't roll into the river (I was on the rear passenger side, the river was to the left of us). That kind of stuff would really change your perspective of the world around you.
Anyways, these are just my thoughts.
Peace.

I believe we're in a training ground right now.  Sometimes i wonder if died and forgot about it. I've been thinking a lot about death every since i was a small child, it seems to make me appreciate my life more.
I think many people expect their death shortly before it comes.
It sounds as though you have a very positive outlook towards this event. I'm quite looking forward to it myself.

Did you know that when we die, we wake up abruptly in our real lifes?
It is a continuous cycle with no end, it is infinite. Life is a dream.
The world is a speck of dust floating in the darkened room of someones lair.
Or a living molecule entwined in a great horses hair...
A kid looks down on us through a microscope.

It'll be interesting to see what death actually is...

That's what I am getting at in my big post about the concert... the state of mind I was in on the way back from the concert. The "reality" I was in, riding bitch between my 350 lb, smelly drummer and another friend, was only an illusion, and I felt better and had more energy and was capable of so much more higher thought when I closed my eyes and seperated myself from this "reality".
I had a much broader scope of who I was, I was part of my friends and everything else.

Every once and awhile everyone needs to sit down, and start thinking on the fact that you are looking out an eye. That's all it is. This body just holds us.
Peace.

You're a morbid SOB. When are you gonna start to practice identification with the Eternal, instead of being so exclusively attached to the temporal? Like every human life that's ever been, hasn't died? One does NOT have to be paralyzed by fear, Eternity co-exists with time. Why don't you read Eckhart Tolle's 'The Power of Now?' It's about the most transforming, non-scriptural read I've experienced in recent years. You need to dis-identify with the "pain body," in Tolle's words. Peace be with you.

Death has been on my mind for the past few weeks now. I've been trying to mentally prepare myself since I feel it coming soon. I'm no longer afraid of death itself, but I am still afraid of a slow and painful death. I'm kinda looking forward to it since it will be my ticket out of this depressing physical world, at least temporarily.

Glorious liberation!

Making threads like this one is a great thing. Writing them helps reinforce the new, higher paradagrim.

Dex-heads beat the shit out of themselves for the same reason (at least I do). Pain is a delightful sensation when one is neurologically capable of appreciating it.

Human feelings don't matter, I guess. The Universe (what we really are) doesn't feel. It *is*. Bad feelings are just a program. The Eye is still dispassionately consciousing it all.

Mind is no different.

i didn't mean it as, i'm just going to sit around and wait for death.
i am very happy with life now.
i have great friends, great times, tones of fun.
life is amazing.

i'm just stating that i'm really courious to know 'whats next'
personal i dont' believe we just die
so i was just having a thinking moment....
i'm not going to try and rush through life, but i am going to enjoy it.
and i'm hopeing to enjoy whatever comes next.

i'm 18.
and mabey i'm just saying this shit cause i'm a youngen.
mabey i will be scared of death when i'm older, and find out i don't have enough time to finish what i want...
but for the time being.
i choose to just wonder about the afterlife.

So so so intense was reading that. I had this vision of a nuclear blast and deep fear in me and than bam....I wake up! Except not me becasue I'm someone else but still me. hmmmm...its a lot to comprehend. These days death is a very real possibility for many people who otherwise would put off the thought of it for a long while. Although death is always a real possibility and can come at any moment. Its hard to not think about when you turn on the TV and all you can hear about is death. I feel torn between going on with life as usual (school...try to get a job cuz I'm broke etc.) or taking this time as a sign that it is time for action and it is time that a difference is made in this world. I'm not sure...but in my gut, I feel a calling...a sign that my purpose will soon be revealed. We shall see.

"Did you know that when we die, we wake up abruptly in our real lifes?"

First of all, to answer this question: No. I did not know that. Do you?

secondly, so what happens when our "real life" is over?
