What happened?

Hello,
So, this is my first time growing and after reading all of the warnings about proper sanitization and getting super paranoid about contamination, I decided to at least make an attempt at growing. I decided to go with the pf tek. I pressure cooked my jars for 45 minutes at 15 psi, I did my inoculation under a glove box, and I flame and alcohol sterilized the needle every time I put it in the jar. This was all after I nuked the air with some Lysol.
It is now almost exactly a week later and all 12 of my jars have contamed. WTF?! At first I was excited to see some sort of growth after only three days. Then I realized that this was a) too soon for mycelial growth, and b) not white. I had to chuck them all. Is this something that I did, or could there have been something wrong with the syringe that I bought? If there is something wrong with the syringe, should I contact the vendor that I bought it from?
Thanks!

Not true. My friend has seen growth in only two days. As long as it wasn't completely covering the surface area of the cake....

What color was it? Usually, as mycelium just begins to poke through the substrate it resembles more of a dull gray/white. As time passes, the network establishes itself and becomes much closer to a pure white color.
Elaborate a bit more on what you observed....

Well, it started out as a dull grey/white. Then it turned a reddish-orange color. I'm assuming that this is very not normal. Or is it?

Gah...that's what I thought. I'll have to start a new bunch of jars and pray that they don't contam.

don't contact the vendor you bought them from. they were sold for microscopy purposes only. unless you can prove you found foreign spores while viewing the specimen under a microscope you're only telling them you misused their products

A sign of a contaminated syringe is that the contam starts to grow near the inoculation points.

What species are you growing? If you have P. Mexicana, this might not be a contam, but rather healthy mycelium... if it is more orangish than reddish. If you are growing P. Cubensis, then chuck it and try again.

It was P. Cubensis. I chucked it already. I'm PC-ing my new BRF jars as I am typing this. I'm hoping that I don't screw up quite so horribly this time!
