Got no problems with it. One of my best friends is gay. I don't mind being around gay people. And as a straight guy, I feel flattered when a gay guy hits on me. I mean, if both camps like you that's gotta be good right? I don't get it when people get angry or pissed when they get attention from the same sex. What's the big deal? Tell him/her you ain't interested and go about your day.

I think some of the people that are the most vocally homophobic are really just threatened by having to confront something they see in themselves, that scares them.

The lady doth protest too much.

Would like to clear up: I have no personal problem with gays. Infact, I think it's a pretty honorable thing to claim who you are, outright in a not-so-accepting world. I'm only being honest in saying that I don't like being singled out from across the room and surveyed for potential by someone whose intents and purposes are the complete opposite of mine, sexually that is. Of course, this is something that can and should be transcended because, before it ever comes down to the real thing, communication is key among all of us- and heterosexual homophobes should be secure in knowing they have the verbal power to also claim who they are.

CaptainCrunch,

Name calling and personalisms are against the rules in PS&P. If you can't debate the topic without resorting to calling people names, then don't post in PS&P. Consider this your warning.

Read the rest of the rules here before you post again:

Do you ever do that to women? Check them out from across the room, I mean?

Well, yeah I do. I'm not implying they don't have that right, I'm just honestly saying that I personally don't feel comfortable in that akward situation.

No, what YOU thought of was seriously offensive, the product of your own imagination.
But just for the sake of the argument, let's suppose I would tell some dude he likes the cock. So what? Is it my responsibility to think about might or might not offend other people, and then watch what I'm saying? Or is it that the person who's feeling offended is also the only one who's responsible for the way they chose to feel about it?
Also please demonstrate how me being a woman prevents me from understanding how offensive something you thought I implied can be. This should be really interesting.

Maybe if you posted some of this instead of this
:penis: there wouldn't be such ha misunderstanding.

What does being a female have to do with it? i tend to think that the reason people don't understand and ridicule others is because of a lack of understanding. Judging by most of your posts, you seem to have a generally good understanding of things, thus this post, with its lack of elaboration and seemingly condecending oversimplification of his feelings, seems to imply that you are insensitive by some other means than your knowledge.

The only thing left then would be to blame the fact that women experience much less resistance from people in our society when they express homosexual curiosity, interest, etc than do men and thus may or may not realize how sensitive of an issue this can be.

i probably should have cleared that up before i put that....

But i do disagree with the oversimplistic nature of your post.

You have a good healthy mind, use it damn it!!!

And you have all rights to man, no need to feel like you are not developing as an individual.

if you want you might want to look into this, though like most men, you will probally be forced to by your subconcious at some point in the future.

i have benefited greatly from exploring. it also has allowed me to feel more sexy to women in general because when you appreciate another mans body, its easier to accept that women can in fact find male bodies sexy and this does wonders for a sexual relationship with women, as it provides an added sense of stability and confidence.

Note: i am not saying that confidence is reached through this, just that you gain an added sense of it.

This is a good insight. I do have at least a hint of appreciation for the aesthetic quality in everything, including the masculine figure. I'm am not baffled by what women/homosexuals look for physically, I am just not a fan in regards to sex.

I wrestled in highschool- and most people unfamiliar with the sport automatically assume it is an outlet for creepers in the closet, not to say this may be the case with some. But for me personally, and for some of my closest friends in the sport, it is a very liberating experience for a heterosexual male. It gives you the chance to be intimate with a male body for purposes other than sexual expression. This has really dissolved uncomfortable/awkward interactions between me and the other men who are close to me (ie dad, brother and best friends etc), which are largely and ignorantly held in the dark.
I really appreciate this thread because it has made me think, and it is forcing me to take that next step into being comfortable around gays whom I am not acquainted with, and to accept and appreciate their appreciation of my image. It's still a lil weird, but in these situations, knowing yourself is half the battle and communication and reason is the other.

Forgive me my slight tangent.

But something I find interesting after reading this thread and observing the reactions of other men elsewhere... Concerning what is appropriate behaviour for gay men in their presence, particularly regarding being the object of unwanted sexual attention...

Sounds very similar to what many women say about heterosexual men.

That almost brought tears to my eyes!

:peace:

it only gets better from here on in!

:borat:

i also can relate to this as well. A lot of the time i think men tend to be very touchy about their sexual appreciation for other men or even just aesthetic appreciation, because they do not explore their feelings. in such a sport as wrestling, i interpret that one is probably forced into those feelings and thus one becomes acquainted with them and eventually comfortable. i think my experience in competative sports has helped me with this as well!!

Cheers and beers!
