He just incited martial law and left his citizens to the dogs....
I do not see good things coming of this.

The army is closer to the people than you think. There's a reason people are celebrating on the streets!

time for America to do some liberating i would say. this is delciously entertaining how this will turn out, too bad im on the bad guy bourgesie capatalism side id gladly die for a good cause like the reformation of society the sad part though is in the modern era there is no capacity for heros, in the globalized world there is no "good side" there is only tyranny and the ignorant masses. information is spread too far to mobilize against it though, the only outcome is the ecological crisis that we fail at answering correctly today; post crisis: if we reform society, in the parameters of capatalism and democracy, we will fail again.

I don't think this is troll. I think this is THINKING rather than HOPING. They are 2 different things.
As far as the media I listen to, I don't really listen to any media, I try to read between the lines of what they say. I'm more of a student of history than media. Mark my words- there WILL be ulginess between the various factions that will be vying for control of Egypt.

I don't think the Arab resentment towards Israel is as bad as our media makes it out to be. They're just frustrated that the western-backed westernized Jews who have decided to settle in that particular corner of the Middle-East are so abusive towards their Palestinian, Arab neighbors and aren't held accountable by their most powerful allies - who consider themselves such major champions of equality and human rights and such.
I'm telling you, give the Palestinians self-determination and even just a little piece of Israel and it'll all blow over.

Apparently the anti-government protesters have been riding around on top of tanks and APCs. It's hard to imagine, but the army is on the people's side in this scenario.

Mubarak's Assets Frozen By Swiss Government

(Reuters) - Switzerland has frozen assets that may belong to Hosni Mubarak, who stepped down as president of Egypt on Friday after 30 years of rule, the foreign ministry said.
"I can confirm that Switzerland has frozen possible assets of the former Egyptian president with immediate effect," spokesman Lars Knuchel said soon after Mubarak bowed to 18 days of mass protests. "As a result of this measure any assets are frozen for three years."
He did not say how much money was involved or where it was.
Assets belonging to Mubarak's associates would also be targeted so as to limit the chance of state funds being plundered, the ministry said. Mubarak and his associates would be prevented from selling or otherwise disposing of property, notably real estate.
In recent years, Switzerland has worked hard to improve its image as a haven for ill-gotten assets.
It has also frozen assets belonging to Tunisia's former president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, ousted by popular protests last month, and Ivory Coast's Laurent Gbagbo, who has refused to step down after an election which the outside world says he lost.

Egypt is going to become the next Islamic radical state. The population has become more and more radical over the years. I don't know why you think this is such a good thing? At best it is neutral with strong possibilities of very bad things happening.
I think you're all buying the western mainstream media spin.

Of course it has, but look at what these people have done. They, non-violently overthrew a dictator of 30 years in a little over two weeks. The Egyptian population as a whole transcended those issues. It has only begun and it is a hard road ahead but this is not the starting of an radical Islamic state. This is just people trying to have their Xenu-given rights. It is important what happens next but it simply isn't realistic that the military, who is in charge now, would completely forgo their half a century relationship & aid with the US.
This has only just begun because I guarantee you that Tunsia, Egypt, they wont be the only ones. The Mullah's in Iran are shaking in their turbans, I guarantee that. Saudia Arabia, Syria, all of these aristocratic governments are getting really nervous right now.

He admitted he was a troll on the other thread. Period.
And reading between the lines is exactly what I'm advocating here. But by expressing your fear of islamism, you're merely voicing the opinion of the "people" - rumors.Quote:

The major muslim movement, the Muslim Brothers, hasn't shown any sign of violence since the 60s, and has declared that they will not take part in the following elections. Furthermore, the egyptian army is opposed to islamism and is strong enough to make sure they never reach power.
Don't be paranoid, inform yourself.
There will be ugliness, but because there is ALWAYS ugliness. It's a no brainer.
