Moisture Content of Cow Poo
    #1394872 - 03/20/03 10:22 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

A fella I just met would like to undertake the spawnning of poo, so he bought one of those 40 lb bags from Lowe's. He wants to know thw best way of getting the moisture content right- he said he remembers something about drying the shit out in the oven first- or somethin like that- crushing it up into a powder, adding the correct amount of water and then pasturizing. How does this sound?

Also, when spawning, does he want to just throw down the rye and put the shit on top? or mix it up real nice?

He says he wants to try this in a little while- infact, he juxst called and told me that his shit is almost dry, so ant help would be much appreciated. Thanx.

Hmmm.. composted cow poop?? with humus?

just fill a pillowcase with as much as you need, submerge this in water, heat it up to 170f for an hour and 1/2.

remove it from water, squeese as much water as you humanly can.. i mean squeeze that shit out.... don't be shy.

then fluff it up a bit to uncompress it, let it sit over night, and then layer it in a pan, 1 inch poop, sprinkly in colonized grain, more poop, more grain, more poop......

and bingo.

Is it better to pastuerize in the oven or in water? Oven seems like it would be cleaner.

If you got it at lowes, it's already been dried exc...
Bake sterilize at 250 degrees for 90mins...
You'll have to guesstimate the the correct water ratio it should be damp but not drenched! Also ad peat moss and verm to it so it colonizes easier...
just some quick tips

Alright, so this is what yall suggest-

1. Dont worry about drying it, oven sterilize it mixed w/ peat and verm.
A>A 50/50 of peat and verm? If so, how much 50/50 to shit?
2. Once oven sterilized, bring water content upt to damp but not drenched.
A>Should I use h202 water to hydrate it?
Once water content is correct, spawn that shit w/ some colonized rye using the method suggested above by poops.

Thanks for responses thus far, and I apologize if this post seems a bit redundant, I'm just sorta sick of pissin in the wind and I would like to know that I have everything in check; I have wasted more than a fewe good jars because of my hairbrained ideas/improper knowledge base. Thanks again.

Add water too your crap before baking it! This ensure complete sterilization. Also stir up cow manure after 60 mins and return to bake for 30 more mins
Add distilled water to it after it's sterilized to bring it to the right moisture content...
As for adding verm/peat i'd say ad it 50/50 verm&peat to cow manure. Cause it's unknown if the cow manure is of good quality.

Why do you recomend sterilization as opposed to pasteurization, psilo?

Ah yes,

It took me awhile, but I found this damn post again.

24 hours later and foaf has:

completely dried in the oven cow shit that has sat in a bag for 3 weeks, outside in the rain.

Once the shit was dirt dry he sifted it down into a fine powder

with the shit powder (6 cups) he mixed cup of brf, 3 cups 50/50

he then used a spray bottle with h202 water to hydrate it

at the present time, the shit, it sits, and awaits paturization, 45 min at 170

do you think this sorta thing will work? After all day of reading multiple teks and links, and this and that, and posting, and being an impatient bitch, he decided to take matters into his own hands and try a jumbled combo of shit- not because he is a brave adventurer, but rather a person under the influence of a stout case of ADD- unable to remeber details, only a "buffet" of ideas.

Yes, so anyways, any thoughts? Pissin in the wind? Thanks for the help thus far, I'm listenning, it just doesn't appear thatway
