ok so why did the mycelium of p. cubensis evolve or adapt to have a optimum growth temperature of 86 degrees f when a cows average body temp is 101.3 degrees F???????????

the mycelium doesnt grow inside the cow as far as im aware i would say thats the temp of the interior of a cow pat in a field on a warm and damp summers day  and as the temp drops so fruiting comes

Mycelium dies at 106? F, unless I'm mistaken.

On another note, are you sure the entire strain of P. Cubensis evolved around growing on cow dung?

So, a cow walks into a bar.... If thermal death occurs at 106, then spores disseminated on surrounding grass would be able to cycle through a cow and, guaranteed proper growing conditions, travel as far as said cow. Right? Not that cows are too well travelled, normally.

considering cows are not native to america and many other countrys id say there very well traveled  but that is also the thermal death of mycelium im unsure as to the thermal death of p.c spores is anyone else?

From what I understand there are a couple of ways for spores to germinate in the wild.. I could be completely wrong though...

Some Species of Psilocybian mushrooms probably do germinate whilst inside the cow.. but mostly the spores are already either in the atmosphere or in the substrate/field...From what I understand spores can travel vast distances in the atmosphere..

Funny about the cows not being well travelled... Actually I can probably bet that some cows have travelled alot more than some people I know!! To look at how cubensis spores developed in The western world you have to take a look at the Days of Imperialism, colonisation... the Cattle trade Asia/Africa... Also the way spores can just travel in th atmosphere and settle on the right place...

Anyay I have no way to prove what I say just speculation.
