What is the sure-fire way of starting azurescens spores into mycelia?
This is what I have tried and heard from people. Feel free to correct them if they are not true:
1. It takes 3 to 4 months for azurescens to colonize a jar. (true?)
2. Azurescens spores can start colonizing sawdust+wheat bran immediately, without the need for an agar step (true?)
3. Azurescens can be started from spores with nothing but honey and agar. But you have to raise the temperature to 91 deg F to get them "started". (true?)
4. Azurescens spores can start growing hyphea in nothing but sugar water with a little bit of warmth. (true?)
I already performed a search of the forums and noticed someone else had tried to start azurescens and failed. I noticed there was no reply to it whatsoever.

I have read about someone "successfully" using the PF-tek with cyanescens which have identical growth parameters for the most part. It was stated that the cakes would not fruit using strait BRF(They have to have hard wood). I suggested making the Cakes then crumbling them and mixing them with (Soaked)corrugated cardboard strips as small of strips as possible. If you did this it could work with Azurescens. Also I think that the time you asked about is based on how long you need to prepare an outside bed in total

Correction: Azurescens Have The "HIGHEST" Psilocybe content of any psilocybe mushroom, hence stronger, next best is p. cyanescens and stuntzii.

Yes.. I have read all of those sections. They do not answer my question. They merely say "I started mycelia on agar." WELL HOW? I still need to know the following things:
1. What agar should I use to start spores into mycelia? 2. What temperature should I use? 3. Do I need to prime the spores with suger water? 4. Do I need to heat-shock the spores to get them "started"? If yes, what temperature and for how long?
Most of those FAQs you linked me into are either 404 or do not specify how to start the spores into mycelia. I have already tried numerous different agars and numerous different substrates with numerous different tricks of heat and heat-shocking and sugar priming. NONE Of them worked. I have just assumed that the spores were dead. But I need to be sure. PLease help me!!! I have been working on this for over a year now.

If this is your first grow, you picked one hell of a strain to start with. Due to it's growing parameters, it's probably one of the hardest actives to grow yourself.

Most folks spawn outdoor beds for wood lovers, and let nature take care of the growth parameters.

Thank you all for your help. I will let you know if I learn anything more as things progress.
I was having issues in particular with the spores-->mycelia stage. Once I get mycelia, my methods are essentially fool-proof after that. The teks didnt really concentrate on the very first part of this stage. They would mention agar but not details about which agar or what temp.
I believe now that my problem was dead spores. (Someone else told me this issue is getting worse as times goes on.)

It's cool, I like all the woodlover's threads being revived from like 5 years ago now I don't have to search for them.
