Gas has very little to do with it.

no, but if iraq's main export was gold, you'd be saying it's all about the gold.

Who ever said gas would be cheaper ? It may go down 0.10 cents but I don't see much more than that.

Huh? Can you please explain that?

right now man... you're just a follower of a different shepherd. think man, think.
it's alot more complicated than that. gas isn't going to get cheaper. the oil connection is that they don't want the country with the second largest oil reserves in the world to start selling it's oil for euros instead of dollars. that and they want american companies to have access to iraqi oil. nabbing up middle eastern oil for the US is something that alot of rather powerful interests have been meaning to do since the 70s.
right now, there's a middle eastern dictator who aggressively invaded another nation and then violated the terms of the surrender agreement he signed after he lost in that war. that much is a fact, and it is under this pretext that we are now going to war.
there really are two different reasons for this war. one's the good reason, and one's the actual one.
it's not as though you are special and see something that alot of other people don't. of course we all see the oil connection going on.
but saying "it's about oil" doesn't make much of an argument.. because most of those who are for the war are for it because they see that saddam hussein is a brutal dictator who has attacked his neighbors and violated his surrender... and they want him removed. that's why they support it... for the *good* reason. it's not as though the word 'oil' is something that slipped their minds.
the argument that CAN be made is that although saddam is indeed a totalitarian, and has indeed violated his surrender agreements... we have not exhausted all peaceful options for ending this crisis, and that military action will create more problems than it solves.

I think it's about securing another source of the black gold. The plan isn't about lowering gas prices, but installing a regime which will readily supply the fuel to america.

you can go and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that oil is indeed a major reason for this war.
however, that does little to negate the argument: "saddam hussein is a brutal dictator who is in violation of his surrender agreements and must be removed by force"

It really isn't about oil, but the sad thing is alot of American's biggest concern about this war is that gas will cost more.
Boo fucking hoo. I'd gladly pay $10 a gallon or more if it meant getting all of the murderous tyrants taken out of power.

well, citing that he is a brutal dictator as a reason for invasion is erroneous. it falls under one of the white house's plethora of bullshit excuses.
"The hawks' reasons why the U.S. needs to invade Iraq...
Iraq's alleged ties to the al Qaeda terrorist group
Iraq's weapons of mass destruction: chemical, biological, and nuclear
'Saddam Hussein is a War Criminal'
'Saddam Hussein is Evil'"

i say pick one and stick with it

well, it doesn't look like the world agrees with the US here. oh wait, what about that "list" of 30 or so countries the white house worked so hard to put together to add some sort of legitimacy to this war? man, that list is embarrassing and it's a mistake for the US to try to use it in its favor. this war may not be about oil, but if you haven't read this please take a look. it has some pretty good arguements supporting the oil theory. anyway, justified or not it looks like the war has started

You and me both. Unfortunately, to whom is that kind of power entrusted? Only God Almighty, who quite possibly doesn't even exist. Bush is setting a dangerous precedent with all his good/evil talk.

what i'm saying is that if you want to make a case against this war... it's best to leave oil pretty much out of it. we all know the REASON for the war.
you'll have to attack the validity of the EXCUSE if you want to get anywhere.

ok, so which "reason" have you settled on? if you read that article(obviously oil) and still think it this war has nothing to do with it then i respect your opinion. so basically, to ask again, what do you think is the actual reason the US is invading? *edit* sorry, think i misunderstood your response...kinda busy atm
