Help my dyslexic pal out...

He thinks he's read most of the topics but wants some sort of security from the pros.

Do you need to "spawn" a substrate or can you just transfer the cultures from agar petri dishes to the substrate. Would you mix them in the substrate or lay them on top to colonize. You wait till they overtake the substrate, then case and fruit? How would you mix them in?

you mix the colonized agar to grain, this could be considered " Spawning " , but i'd call it "transfering."

You can then " Spawn " your "Colonized " grain into straw/poop...... and then you end up with a casing...... (* in a doctor Evil voice )
