Anyone think the US will strike early since the ultimatum was rejected already?

i think we should wait until after 8:00 pm to give him a fair "LAST" chance.
12 hours 49 minutes until liberation..

I'm not even sure this even deserves a response but i guess i will... Being liberated from being killed, raped, tortured and living under duress is not the same thing as the Patriot Act 1 or 2. To say so is utter BS and shows how desperate this way of thinking is. There's not too many people on this site that support the Patriot Act. Your argument falls under the Tu Quoque Fallacie and is moot, or should be treated as such. 7 hours 43 minutes until liberation.

I would argue that the Patriot acts and other conditions the Shrub has or will create in the US definitely qualify as "living under duress". And the CIA is at this very moment killing and torturing in Afghanistan. If they do likewise in Iraq, it will be Saddam Hussein all over again. Irregardless of whether its a logical "Fallacie" or not, the fact remains that the Iraqi ppl are not likely to be much better off after the war than they were under Saddam.

Evidence? Reliable sources? Anyone?

i meant duress as in threatening to kill if they don't do what saddam wants to do...not, for example drug laws and wire tapping. Quote:

Speculation, a moot point Quote:

you're right, they're better of being raped, murdered and tortured and besides, muslims don't want to be free anyway...right? after all they are just humans... 4 hours 26 minutes until liberation

Im not saying their better off being raped, etc., but merely that the abuses are unlikely to end after Saddam.

Try posting a source from a more neutral website. Greenleft.org.au sounds like they have an agenda.

Today is your lucky day. I found the original Washington Post article.

"Those techniques, described in a front-page article in Thursday's Washington Post, include keeping prisoners "standing or kneeling for hours" while hooded or wearing spray-painted goggles, holding them in "awkward, painful positions" and depriving them of sleep with a 24-hour bombardment of lights." That hardly sounds like what I would call torture. Also they are not doing it indiscriminately. And not a single mention of killing them.

now come on folks... it doesn't matter where this information came from. if it's true, it's true. i mean... you can put spins on alot of things... but whether or not there is 'torture' going on is a pretty black and white issue.
i find it very hard to believe that 'terrorists' are not being tortured for information. i mean... i'm sure it's nothing medievel or anything... but i really don't think we're above forcing prisoners to to kneel for hours to get them to talk.
i really think it's naive to think otherwise.

I'm all for torturing terrorists...hell i'd like to be the one to do it.

I heard one way of messing with them: they say that a prisoner has to have 4 hours of sleep but it can be a total of 4 hours within a 24 hour period..ha
