digestion dilemma

i just wanna bury tha hatchet on this one. my friend and i cant agree on it, so im lookin for informed opinions.
my friend claims that it is absolutely vital to chew tha shrooms as long as possible before swallowing them. his claim is that without doing that, they dont absorb as much before tha stomache acid destroys tha psychoactive components.
my understanding is that chewing may lead to a quicker onset, but that stomache acid does NOT destroy anything, and if you've ingested it, its tha same either way.
does anyone have comments on this? either if you've done it both ways repeatedly with consistent results, or if you have any bio-chemical facts that back either opinion?
i sincerely hope im right, because im one of tha dudes who cant stand tha flavor...
-thx

the benefit in chewing them as much as possible is cause teh stomach will digest it better if its already mostly digested....if you just swallowed a whole shroom you wouldent trip that well because muchrooms are not easily digested...and your stomach would feel like shit. It would come out in you shit in big chunks prolly....that why you chew them...its like corn

I've done it both ways plenty of times, and its exactly like Vulture says. Breaking up the shrooms just makes it a little easier on the stomach, and I find that my trip is a little less 'erratic' if I grind them all up.
you might want to check
http://www.lycaeum.org or http://www.erowid.org
They might have some information on how stomach acid reacts with psylocybin.

Skip the chewing... toss em in a blender with some fruit juice and let the machine do the chewing for you.

uh theres still the process of downing that yummy orange juice-dirty sock slush personally- try chewingas much as possible, but toss in a piece of a nutty butty bar (ya, know lildebbie's cracker and chocolate an peaut butter snacks) in yor mouth and that helps withythe taste and texture, all you can taste is the nutty butty
also, drinking a carbonated bev helps to get the pieces stuck in your teeth out, or a toothpick
i think eating them is the most nasty revolting thing, but its worth it
