Are there active mushrooms that grow in the carribean... like in the dominican republic???

Yes, most tropical climates will support the growth of many mushrooms..

If you are asking about hallucinogenic mushrooms (I think you are), you would be able to find Psilocybe cubensis (mentioned all over these boards) and Panaeolus cyanescens (blue staining Panaeolus, blue meanines...etc).

They well be growing from cow patties...most likely in the late spring into summer.

ANd not all Carribean Islands have both species. Some have on or another and a few might have both.

There are also several new species found in soils and woodchips. All stain blue when damaged.

Jamaica has both Pan. cyanescens and P. cubensis.

he's talking about the dominican republic (one of my favorites, but never been hunting there). still, without checking i would bet that cubies are all over the (right) places :smile:

Only P. cubensis haw been identified from the Dominican Republic.

In aruba, on the southernmost of the Caribbean on the Netherland Antilles, i was at the resort?s beach, and then i went inside and beside a palm tree (with grass around it), there was a yellow mushroom, abut 2 inches tall, and gills open to the sides, not very conic shape. Can anybody tell me what mushroom this could be?

It could be any one of more than five thousand species.
