former governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson should be announcing a presidential bid this month if not this week.
I had the opportunity to meet and chat with him a couple times and was pleased to not be fed bullshit. for those that do not know his platform he is heavily libertarian and is far more socially liberal than most republicans.
-advocates 43% federal budget cut tomorrow -would shut down Iraq and Afghanistan operation asap -advocates the legalization, regulation, and taxation of mary jane -foreign work visas with a one strike rule then out forever
for the first time ever i will be registering as a republican for caucuses .
Thoughts or opinions on Gov Johnson?

I like him enough that I would vote for him, but I don't agree with him on everything.
He's more sane than Ron Paul though and actually has a decent chance of getting the Republican nomination.
I wouldn't mind him as president at all.

I will vote for him if Ron Paul decides not to run. I like his veiws on the drug war. That's my main concern right now because it breaks my heart to see people get locked away for along time for hurting no one but themselves. I wish more people would make the drug war a bigger issue. We can't afford to put non-violent drug offenders on the back burner.

what i really like about him is he sees the financial state of our nation as a "nut up or shut up moment"
a little tightening of the belt and shrinkage of federal government is right up my way

Gary Johnson supports marijuana legalization, but also supports privatized-prisons, i.e., government created lobbies for more laws, more incarceration, etc. I'm not sure he understands the contradiction in his views.

there is no contradiction because legalization would remove consumers as targets and inmates. could a private prison corp. really pressure a judicial branch for more inmates? seems unlikely, but who knows what kinds of shady business goes down.
ideas about privatization come directly from cost analysis in his real life experience as a governor
as far as privatization leading to a lower standard of living....probably, it is prison after all
