Thanks, its fun to share them since they seem useful.
I would imagine that you've got abietes on conifers up there? These Hericiums (corolloides and erinaceus) grow on other hardwoods too but I know very little about what occurs in BC other than it being amazing country where a lot of good friends live.

The compounds in erinaceus claimed to possess NGF activity seems to be limited to the mycelium not the fruiting bodies unless I've misunderstood what I've read. Fruiting bodies have been reported to contain anticancer agents. I'll find a reference for this and post it here.
I have located more or less nothing about potential medicinal properties of Hericiums other than erinaceus but I'd like to assume they are good for me since they feel that way. I'd still love eating them even if they were found to be totally nutritionally and medicinally devoid.
