Ridiculous Youtube personality posts documentary on neuroscience revelation * 1
    #13864872 - 01/28/11 10:04 AM (10 years, 8 months ago)

I had heard about it and thought it was a joke/troll like other things he's done but I noticed the documentary was actually posted.  I skipped through it and it looked "real".

He claims there is some great revelation contained in it. I'll be watching it soon.  Seems intriguing enough considering it came from him.

If you don't know his character "Athenewins" it's a fictional person who plays World of Warcraft and he's had many millions of views posting on youtube.

i think this reminds me of my junkie friend who liked to play world of warcraft

his brain is shot from triple c's we think...

you see he's a little off, he almost is like a body without his own personality.

i call him a ccowardly lion...almost as if he needed a heart to be himself.

Seems legit although overstated from what I watched. The bit about neuroplasticity early on is true but it's not as significant as the video makes it out to be. Likewise some of the conclusions seem over-generalized from the available information. This probably leads to some bogus statements throughout. If you're not educated in the field, you probably won't spot them.

Just kind of a heads up from the trend I saw.

Yea that's what I'd like to see, people who know about this sort of stuff.

The brain-chemical stuff (first part) seems quite reasonable and scientifically true, as far as I know. About the quantum stuff I don't know enough to make a good judgment hehe but it sounds quite reasonable too, even with my knowledge and ideas behind it.

In fact I enjoyed it quite much, so I will cite the epilogue:
" In quantum mechanics, we have learned to approach reality differently and see everything as probabilities instead of certainties.
In a mathematical sense, anything is possible. As well as in science as in our daily lives, the extent to which we can calculate or figure out probabilities is determined by our intellectual capability to recognize patterns. The less biased we are, the clearer we can identify these patterns and base our actions on reasonable probabilities. Since it's in the very nature of our brain's left hemisphere to deny ideas that do not fit into our current paradigm, the more attached we are to a belief system, the less able we are to make conscious choices for ourselves. But by observing this process, we expand our awareness and enhance our free will.

It is said that wisdom comes with age, but with openness and skepticism, the key principles of the scientific method, we don't need decades of trial and error to sort out which of our convictions may be improbable. The question is not whether our believes are right or wrong, but whether or not being emotionally attached to them is more or less likely going to benefit us. There is no such thing as free choice while being emotionally attached to a belief system. The moment we are self-aware enough to realize this, we can truly work together to figure out the real odds of what will benefit us the most."

I liked it. Even if its not the best source of info out there, it really brought it all together for me.

Here's more

Watched it last night, very interesting.  I didn't understand a lot of the physics but my friend who does watched it with me and said he recognized most of it and it's already been known but that the formulas were definitely interesting.

I'm interested if anyone that understands this can verify/deny the plausibility?
