Yeah, and put the type of habitat you found them in...and where in california do you live...(north/central/southern/inland/coastal)?

Maybe a few descriptions of them would be nice... Oh, and I'll wait for the picture

When you click on "put pictures in this post" above the text-area where you write a post, you should go down to "Browse", and browse the picture files that you have on your computer to find the one you want to post, and select it, then click on upload.

On that page, after the picture has uploaded, there will be a text-area with HTML code, which you will then need to cut/copy/paste into you're post, just how it is. Click on it, and highlight it, and then press ctrl+c or right click on it and click on copy. Then in here, right click and go to paste, or press ctrl+v.

Thats all you ahve to do.

Make sure the picture is less than 100kb, as that will cause problems in the uploading process.

Hey, well, those look like they certainly did NOT stain blue... I don't know what your seeing!

Number one rule: If the mushroom has white gills, you can rule it out for being active... So, its definetly not active.

Also, you might want to write a better description of the mushroom, and what exactly it was growing from/out of, spore print color, and whatnot to get a positive ID to what exactly it is.

I'm really not sure what it is, but, a WILD guess would be a Lepiota or Agaricus.

Whats the spore print color, and did it have a volva or an enlarged base in the ground?

Hmmm... Well, due to the fact that the pictures are pretty low quality, you're going to have to give us some more information for a positive ID...

I know that they are not active, just by apperance and the white gills.... and I still do not see any bruising of any sort...

Please give us a more detailed description. The photos are just fuzzy enough to make it difficult to see some of the important details. We need to know about things like gill attachment and details about the base of the stem. Without that information we are just wildly guessing. And the little information we currently have leaves open the possibility that those are deadly poisonous species.

Angryshroom is correct about white gills. If you're looking for active (or edible) mushrooms, specimens which are basically white all over are a strong danger sign.

The mushrooms in the first pair of photos look to me like either Lepiotas or Amanitas. Given the overall appearance you should definitely not eat those mushrooms or allow anybody else to do so. Many of the all white Amanitas are among the deadliest mushrooms there are.

The second pair of photos look similar in stature to Agaricus, but Agaricus don't normally have white gills.

In both cases you need to get spore prints. White spore prints are potentially very dangerous. We understand that it may take overnight to get a usable spore print.

Please let us know when you have that information. And please get us a more detailed description.

Happy mushrooming!
