this dudes brf/verm cakes are starting to dry out due to slow colonization.
what is the best way to get water to them?

In the future... When making the cake leave a "resevoir" in the middle by packing substrate around a marker and the filling this in w/ damp verm. I think I found this as a variation in PF TEK.

What were the ratios you used during substrate preparation? That may be where you went off course...

I have isolated spores from dry purchased mushrooms on agar. I was doing this to prove that they were nonactive mushrooms with a little something added (lsd?). Turned out I was right.

These shrooms were being sold as "red cap cubensis". They were all red (dyed). Two grams would produce a strong 8 hour trip. They grew fine on birdseed and seemed to look very much like cubes, but they were not red and they were not active. I wish I had taken some pics. I might have a print somewhere if anyone wants it.
