Has anyone ever used this PC on a ceramic stove? I'm worried of it cracking.

15 psi is 250F. The ceramic burner would have to be hotter than 250F to transfer the heat/energy to the PC. Right??? I might have my thermodynamics fudged up, The pc might be storing energy because its capped and that maybe why its able to be hotter than the burner. But if the PC is hotter than the burner than the burner would act like a heat synch and pull heat off the PC cooling the PC... I dunno i've lost myself in my own thoughts.
But if it is the case that the burner must be hotter than the pot then there shouldnt be any risk of cracking.

If all you have access to is a glass stove top, go spend $20 for a 1600Watt or so portable electric stove/range. Place a piece of sheet metal under the portable stove to act as a heat shield and protect your counter from excess heat.
The link below will explain why they recommend against using some canners on glass or ceramic stove tops.

For me the risk of it cracking after repeated stress from PCing on top of it is not worth it. Although I am sure some ceramic and glass stoves are designed to handle the weight and heat, who knows if yours is?
A good glasstop stove can run from $500-1000 dollars Canadian. A portable range can be had for under $25. Id rather not take the risk personally

UPDATE: It worked fine without any cracks. Just make sure you don't slide the PC around because it can easily scratch because of the weight.

I have that PC and when I first started I used a glass top stove, no problems.

You two are braver then I. $20 is a small price to pay to know 100% that your ceramic/glass top stove will not crack. It worked this time, but what about the next 50? Either way

LoL fair enough my friend.
Just kills me, its not a recommended practice and just because you got away with it 1-100 times does not mean that someone else will. So to avoid bad advice fucking someone's expensive glass top range:
It is NOT A RECOMMENDED PRACTICE TO USE A PC ON A GLASSTOP STOVE. $20 will buy you a portable burner(1600Watt or so) that will last for years and ASSURE that your EXPENSIVE glass top stove will not crack.
That is all

Do you have a link to a solid one? You think 1000 watt would be sufficient? Can't find any under $50 that are over 1300 watt.

Here is the one I have: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/8/KitchenBath/2/Appliances/SpecialtyAppliances/PRD~0431200P/Salton%252BSingle%252BBurner%252BPortable%252BRange.jsp?locale=en
I flubbed up and thought it was a 1600W burner, is in fact 1200Watts. It powers my 22Qt PC just fine and I have had it for a little over a year now.

Alright thanks for the help. Had no idea that this option was available to me but thanks. I'm going to give the Proctor Silex hot plate a shot and see how it goes

Make sure you use some form of heat shield if you are running it on a counter top to avoid warping or damaging your counter top.
I use a piece of aluminium siding cut to overhang the burner, place a dish towel on the counter, metal heat shield on top of that, and finally the burner. I have had not a single issue pressure cooking this way over the last year for my edible projects.

i'm not too happy with this 1000watt sylvania single coil. it cycles on and off and it stinks like solder with any weight on it, unless its something about the cooker itself. it does heat to pressure but i would rather not deal with this smell. even with a vent fan its pretty overwhelming.

Good point. When I get it and test it out I'll post a follow up review of it. It's $12 including shipping so I'm not expecting anything amazing just to get the job finished.
