Struggling in meditation

The last few days i have what is called "bad meditaiton". It fucking sucks because i make breakthroughs then something comes along and brings me down.
When i have my bad meditation, i get depressed and hopeless. I drink then make a fool to myself to all my friends. I also have problems with Paranoia (i might of been a war vet in one of my past lifes), i always think something out there is trying to get me or i will get killed in my sleep by some "intruder".
Any advice would be helpful, thank you guys

laugh it off then get back on the cushion
things come and go, just observe the flow - a low period is often followed by an even higher period than before
dunno what else to say

There is no such thing as a bad meditation. Some of my "worst" meditations have been the "best". Just observe, don't become attached and move on.

Just keep going back and sitting and doing your best. Eventually something will release. I went through a similar period, I was very aware of my breathing but started getting lots of anxiety, and the breathing was making it worse, not better. It eventually led to a total breakthrough where i learned to transcend even my breath...just keep moving inwards and try to stay positive...from your threads I'd guess you're in a rough patch right now...stay strong dude

What goes up... must inevitably come crashing back down. There's something in you that is not rising or falling, be there
If happiness rises you can leave it & not chase it when it goes
If it's just a side effect then leave it to the side

You know when it gets really overwhelming, try & make it even more overwhelming, try & be fearless about it
I used to get a feeling of impending doom, like an intense irrational fear, until one day i said in my head 'bring it on then, completely erase me if you can' and it naturally led to laughter because there was actually no reason to be in a state of fear
Fear is really at the root of all our seeking, eventually you'll get sick of feeling fear & just feel 'bring it on then' the willingness to be a victim of mental states just vanishes because the victim himself is seen to be nothing more than a mental state

deff said: laugh it off
This: laughter really is the best defense. Check out this relevant excerpt from the article Don't Be Afraid of Black Magick by R. A. Wilson:
Quote:
The Power of Humor:
Second, have a good laugh. I mean this literally. The practice of lila yoga is recommended by many Tantrists (and by Alan W. Watts) and is good for all occasions, but especially good for exorcising "bum trips" of all sorts. You form a magic circle with about a half-dozen friends and just laugh for 45 minutes. This is a much happier experience than those dreary Gestalt sessions where you program yourself into rage and spite for 45 minutes, and it is just as easy to induce. (If you have trouble getting started, pass around some magic herb before beginning.) When using this ritual to remove a curse, keep a photo of the mind-warper in the middle of the circle and remember that you are laughing at him. At the end, tear up the photo and forget about him entirely.
It's that simple. Just as courage protects one from the physical bully, joy and laughter protect one from the psychic bully.
As Meher Baba used to say, "Don't worry. Be happy."
Those four words contain all the wisdom of the ages.

Those days happen even when not meditating for me. I've been sick for over a week with back pains to boot. What do I do? I just wait to die or for these things to die out.
Shit gets real dark at times.

Yeah. But I'm not convinced that the initial injury explains its continued presence.
