alright SOS is a good way to start casing for sure.

I think at the bottom you want 3/4"-1". Just measure like 1/3 of a cup or something like that and you can do them all real quick and consistent.

My friend uses 9 oz cups as he can't find 5 oz cups. They work fine. Just make sure its plastic (so it won't get waterlogged) and opaque (so light can't get in the sides).

For the top layer, just throw a tablespoon or two on top (I think two). sift it about so it covers well and walla. Pure verm works fine too..

Before putting it in the terrarium, you may want to cover with saran wrap and put it in a dark/warm place again to let some mycellium grow through the top cover. The saran wrap will keep moisture in, unlike the terrarium, which is important as up until you've got pins really you want 95%+ humidity.

The tough question is when to put them in the terrarium. You want even cover with the mycellium. Either cover up the first bits of white with more verm as they appear, or wait until you have 60%-70% uneven coverage and then deep scratch. (do a search on deep scratching). My friend says deep scratches produces many pins and is easy really.
