Does this mean I am now a mycologist? * 1
    #1382218 - 03/16/03 09:39 PM (21 years, 1 month ago)

This gopher that lives in my back yard wanted me to post this for him kuz the melting snow ran into his pad and screwed his computer...:

THANK YOU SHROOMERY!

This is the first veil-break on my first cakes ever!
I am going to eat it tonight to see if my belief that "you get back what you put in" is valid.
Sorry there are no pictures of their wonderful habitat...  The dood in the house's (me who is typing this for him hehe) camera cord won't reach far enough to take a picture =/

Here's some pictures from my gopher hole that I just took before I ate it.  It was having a good time just chillin' with me =D

It weighed darn near 4 grams according to that balance...  (But it's a gopher balance, so who the hell knows what the conversion is...)

I will update as to how things go. (These are Equador correct?)

I ate just that one shroom.  (4 grams fresh, look at my original post )

What a completely different experience from all other mushrooms that I have ever taken.
It has forever altered the way (yes just that one damned shroom) I will think of my self in relation to everything else.

I don't think 4 grams is correct. If it is it must be a very small mushroom.

What a wierd thing to say....

Look at the pictures!

The lighter can be used as a reference to size, as can the scale, and in the picture below, you can see how a 2 gram weight and another 2 gram weight = 4 grams, which made the balance balance with the mushroom on it. That would make the mushroom (the size in three dimensions you can gather from the picture with the lighter) roughly 4 grams fresh.

Earth_Droid:
I can't thank you enough for the help you did give me in getting these on the go, as well as for the spores, and the use of your jars.

I will get the jars back to you as soon as I can (the cakes are sitting on the lids right now).
Let me know what you would like in return for your help, and I will see what I can do.

yeah right. i saw that and thought 4 grams must mean that balance is very large of the fruit is very small. either way, i wouldn't rely on that balance to be accurate at +/- one gram and you can be sorry if you don't have at least that accuracy for dry doses.

It in no way means your a mycologist. That poor little gopher did all the work and you stole his shroom and his glory. What a sad state of affairs.  :smirk:

But, the next time you see that rodent neighbor of your, tell him he did a good job

i've had 11 grams wet that were about as intence as a 3g dry trip. if that was dry, you wouldnt even have 1/2 the trip.

and about those balance's. Gopher's have no need to have a very accurate balance. i once knew a gopher with one, and then he compared it with a digital balance his rich gopher uncle had. He found it to be very inacurate, and very inconsistant. his rich gopher uncle was very pleased when he got it.

Just curious, but are those the "made in india" scales?

My platypus has some, and he hates 'em. Try throwing two 10g's on one side, and the 20g on the other. I dunno about your's, but my duck-billed buddy tried this, and lo-and-behold, the 2 10's were heavier than the 20.

There's only one good use we've found for these things; dividing up a baggie o' bud into two nice, even piles (me and the platypus often go in together on 1/2's, cheaper that way, but I guess it's kinda beside the point).

If you want my advice, grab yourself one of those hanging spring scales, they're fairly inexpensive and seem to do a way better job (easy to calibrate, small, great little things).

Anyways, hope this is of some use to you. It's quite possible that the mushroom you took was not 4g, although it won't be a whole hell of a lot more or less. Happy trippin', and good luck with the rest of the grow.

It is indeed an el-cheapo scale, which is why I put the word "roughly" in there...

It was all the gopher had on hand to use, but he said that he's got a friend with a digital scale for when his harvest is dried.

The trip was indeed not a mind-blowingly intense experience, the revelations came more from the teaching aspect of these mushrooms. Difficult to explain if not impossible.

I think my next experience with these will be a full-dose 5gram+ dried trip.
Hopefully I will be able to reach a mindset where I can comfortably stop smoking...

P.S.: Silica Gel Kitty Litter is about the cheapest and best dessicant out there if you can get your hands on it. Just pour some water on the crystals, and you can see (and hear!) them suck up the water! Re-usable too if you dry it in the over (but for the price, who cares!)

hmmmm....

What brand of cat litter is this? Is Silica Gel just an ingretient, or is that the actual name of it (something tells me its not)?

Need to start drying instead of eating all my harvests

I'm not sure the brand (the gopher just borrowed some of it from his friend), but it's in a clear jug, and you can CLEARLY see that it's silica gel when it's sitting on the shelf. Bunch o' clear crystals or beads depending on the kind.

There's a bunch of litters that are JUST silica gel, just look for these.

It's also completely non-toxic, so you could theoretically throw some in a tupperware container, place a piece of paper towel over it, then toss in your shrooms...

Yeah, I thik if you go to a pet or grocery store and look you should find them near the cat litter. I think their actually supposed to be added in addition to the little for extra absorbtion.

Actually, strike that last post of mine from the record books...

The shrooms will stick to the paper (oops), so get a rubbermaid and some wire mesh of some sort (I used a barbeque grill, won't rust, very nice, 3 bux @ walmart)...
