Plastic Jars???
    #1381957 - 03/16/03 07:32 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Has anyone had success using plastic tupperware containers in the Pressure Cooker or are they most likely going to melt??

Can't get Canning Jars cos they are not sold in Australia... and the ones I can get are way too expensive to bother...

Anyway thanks..

PS... bring on TFSE so i can find out the answers without asking boring repitious questions

I would imagine that the plastic would melt....plastic and pressure cookers don't go together, but then again I'm new to this whole growing deal....but from what I've gathered I believe the jars need to be glass, or at least not plastic.

Just my 2 cents...

do they have ziplock or gladware containers there ?
these can be sterilized 2 or 3 x before the lids warp .
if it is microwave safe it will probably work, but you want something you can see through .

Mesq, so far all my friend has been using is plastic jars, he prefers to use 500ml and 750ml plastic tubs from woolworths, go for about 2 bux each, he just makes sure they have a microwave/dishwasher safe sticker on them.  oh, make sure to take the bar code sticker of the bottom of the jar/tub if there is one, as I now have bar codes imprinted on the bottom of my pc  :smirk:  - enjoy
