"The relative humidity should be from 95%-100%, temperature between 70°F and 75°F, the fruiting chamber should be vented 2-3 times a day to displace the CO2, and they should receive a couple of hours of either indirect sunlight or fluorescent light. "
Is this entirely true? or is it possible to initiate pins at a little lower level of humidity like 80-90%???
The FAQ is so horribly outdated that it's nothing more than an archive of 'how things used to be done', before we knew better.
You don't want to vent a fruiting chamber 2 to 3 times per day. It should get more fresh air than that per hour. That's why the shotgun terrarium outperforms everything used in the early days when that FAQ was written.
In addition, you want nearly 12 hours per day of very bright light for best pin formation. Furthermore, the air at the surface of a substrate which is evaporating moisture into the air is by default very near the dew point, thus perfect humidity. If your ambient humidity is only 80%, you can make up for it by misting more. However, building a proper fruiting chamber will be all you need to do. If you build a shotgun terrarium per the tek, your humidity will be correct for pinning, despite what a chinese 'hygrometer' might read. You still need to mist of course, but don't obsess over humidity. RR

I can't possibly count how many times I've posted not to have fans anywhere near a shotgun terrarium. They destroy the natural air currents that make a shotgun terrarium work, ruining the humidity. RR
