Pinning humidity level
    #13819075 - 01/20/11 07:49 AM (13 years, 10 days ago)

In the FAQ it says -

"The relative humidity should be from 95%-100%, temperature between 70°F and 75°F, the fruiting chamber should be vented 2-3 times a day to displace the CO2, and they should receive a couple of hours of either indirect sunlight or fluorescent light. "

Is this entirely true? or is it possible to initiate pins at a little lower level of humidity like 80-90%???

fanning more often will just dry it out faster....I have plugged many holes, and use a fan for 2-4 minutes 3-5 times a day.  I mist 4-8 times a day depending on the Humidity level, i will keep trying different combinations until I get the right one, currently i have been able to maintain at least 80% and sometimes getting to 100%, so i will try to get it to be 90-100%.  It's getting more than enough FAE considering i have only a few small cakes in there.  Hoping to add more soon that will help up the humidity level too.  I'll see how they are doing in one week.

would it make sense to put small clear palstic cups with holes over the cakes for a week, taking them off when i fan and mist, in order to raise the humidity for those cakes and induce pinning?

How often should I mist?  I have a fan right next to my shotgun FC, I usually turn it on for 1-3 mins aimed directly at the side of it like 4-5 times a day, and currently I mist about that much, 4-5 times a day.  How does that sound?

so i should scrap the fan, and just use the cover to fan?  I was substituting fanning with the cover, with just turning on the fan next to it for a couple minutes, what's the difference?

Im just replacing the air in there with fresh air

the fan is off otherwise, all day, just on to replace air
