also the perlite is starting to smell like the peroxide water...

should i just change the tape out?

Just changing the tape will not do, you've got to clean the whole terrarium with bleach and change the perlite too.

when u say change the perlite do you mean clean the perlite out or throw away and add new perlite? Also is this a contam for sure then?

Do you really want to bother taking the risk? You never know, you could be cultivating a new species of genetically engineered nerve toxin. Well, maybe not that bad, but you get the drift.

i understand and i am going to replace the tape and seran paper but my biggest concern was the oerlite.. I remember once someone saying that perlite could be reused if just cleaned out but i am not for sure...

I?d sterilize perlite before reusing and wipe all surfaces in terrarium with bleach. This will stop stuff from growing.

You can clean the perlite. I normally dunk it with a bleach:water mix for several hours, a bucket or something will do. Then i have to wash it again with tap water very well, i think the word is to "rinse". Finally, you can put it inside the oven to dry a little and to break up the bleach but if you rinse it very well you don't have to do this.

I've heard of people baking the perlite and then re-useing it. Bleach would probably be quicker and less messy.

ok cleaned out the perlite and discarded a casing.. I looked under the casin layer and started to see some green in there.. DAM this casing was starting on its second flush and already had pins..

i bleached the shit ouuta everything..
