Quote:
After a heated midterm election, the Republican-led House easily passed legislation to repeal the nation's sweeping health care law.
The vote was 245-189. There were four Democrats that voted for repeal.
The fact that this probably won't get through the Senate and definitely won't pass Obama's veto pen is irrelevant. It needed doing. Now the House can move on to completely defunding that Obamanation.
No money, no funny.

They had better, or they will be in the same boat as the "party of hope/change" come next election.

Quote:
PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Six more states joined a lawsuit in Florida against President Obama's health care overhaul on Tuesday, meaning more than half of the country is challenging the law.
The announcement was made as House members in Washington, led by Republicans, debated whether to repeal the law.
Virginia has a separate suit so that brings the number of states suing to 27. 30 more and it'll be unanimous.

Despite the supreme court's treatment of the commerce clause, this has got to get some attention. The fact is, that they do have an avenue to backtrack without admiting such, as amongst the provisions challenged are those that are unprecedented.
Zappa: Do you mean the law isn't funded allready, so they can fillibuster any appropriations as they come up or are needed in the yearly budgets?
For anyone interested in the order granting the new states' request to join the lawsuit, here ya go: http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/HealthCareOrder
Of course, the administration attempted to deny these states their day in court, or more accurately the ability join the suit, but tough beans, they're in.

The agencies have to be funded every year and I believe only the House can propose spending bills. If they don't include funding for something the Senate cannot add it. Filibuster isn't relevant, that's only the Senate, and it is still controlled by Dems.

"It needed to be done", but it did nothing? Spoken like a true republican.
Support for repeal is at 55% total. Only 27% want to repeal all of the law and 28% want to repeal some of the law. It would be interesting to see which parts of the law people want repealed. I would be in favor of repealing part of the law despite the fact that I am largely in favor of the bill.
Fair warning to both democrats and republicans, Stop playing stupid political games and start trying to fix the actual problems going on in the country.

> It would be interesting to see which parts of the law people want repealed.
Given the size of the law, and that very few people know what is actually in it, I don't really think most people can make an informed decision about what part they want repealed or if the entire thing should be repealed. Regardless, the major part that I disagree with is the government assuming that it can force me to purchase something or fine me, via the IRS, if I do not. Both of these concepts are unconstitutional. The government does not have the right to force me to purchase anything. The government also does not have the right to punish me for breaking a law (refusing to purchase health insurance) without due process. I also don't agree with the part that lets Obama arbitrarily choose to exempt his friends and pals from the law while requiring everybody else to follow it. Personally, I want them to get rid of the entire bloated piece of crap.

They fixed a "problem" that didn't exist. There are very few problems that wouldn't be best addressed by telling the gummint man to go the fuck away.
