I looked at what was written in this big PDF file, where which mushroom grows. Its a bit messed up tho. It sais Claviceps purpurea is an active sp. that grows in BG and this mushroom contains LSA and some other acids, no psilocine/psilocybin.Not that sure tho

Claviceps purpurea is a microscopic fungus that grows on the sclerotum of rotted rye grains ( wild grasses).

It is known as the cock's Spur.

It will kill you. itis also the cause of ergotism (St. ANthony's Fire).

Tens of thousands died in between the 14th and 1late 17th century in europe. The rye was infected with the ergoty fungus and the baked breads when eaten would ccause ganrgrene and hallucinosis and buirning sensations.

Tens of thousands in villages all over Europe becasme infected and eventuallly died.

IT would cause the arems and leggs, the limbs to rot and fall off.

The fevers were deadly.

St. Anthony was a priest from the 2nd century. He was also the preist who allegedly carried Bell, Book and Candle. Implements associated with witchcraft.

The bell, book and candle was also a movie about a modern good witch and was a big success and later became the basis for the TV seriees, Bewitched.

The afflicked people swho sufferered from ergotism were treated in churches and so the disease became know as St. Anthony's Fire.

In the mid 17th century, the french sicientistlearn the cause of ergotism and were able to treat the ryes and kill the infectious fungi.

later midwives in both the USA and in Europe learned that ergtomines and other chemicals found in the ergot fungus stopped post partum hemoraging in women after childbirth. Many mothers died int he middle ages giving birth becasue no one knew how to stop the bleeding.

Midwives also learned that in certain amounts the ergotimines could also br9ing on late deliveries.

Thats why zoo's have in their flywers sentences asking that please do not feed the animals acis. it causes abortions.

I actually have one flyer from the Jacksonville zoo which says that.

Anyway this is not a fungus to eat. It could kill thousands of people,

mj

ToAD,
P. cubensis and P. tampanensis are tropical species and would not be found in Missouri.

mj

Unless someone was growing them in ther cellar.

Which would be illegal.

This post is the most vague I've seen in a while. Something I'd expect from someone with the name "boomer420."

The only information in this post was provided by MJ.

I'm going to lock it. If you'd like to try making a post with content, be my guest.

Don't ask any more stupid irrelevant questions.
